After tonight it's painfully obvious this team needs more help than just Joel Edmundson, so who else is coming onboard?

You?re definitely right. Hopefully no one unless it?s a major deal with multiple players and change the complexion of this team drastically.

So I am at an event. Broken jaw for Knies is that what happened and someone tried going after Marchand? Domi but he turtled?

No, the expectation is it's a minor injury for Knies, he was held out as a precaution.

I am suggesting Reaves should have broken Marchand's jaw with a sucker punch in retaliation.

I honestly don't get how these dumb as**s can't actually hit him with a good clean check. I can rewind this whole game and I can find plenty of opportunities where someone can lay him out and for some reason they don't. Domi if he was smart should have pasted him with a good punch when they were on the ice but nothing. You wanna turtle or shy away from a fight take that then. Team hasn't changed in years nothing but a bunch of P's. Ive seen enough. I'll come back on here in April when as I told you before rinse and repeat. What really is going to irk me is Treliving f'n this team even more tomorrow thinking something needs to be done or worse yet things some minor tweaking is enough. Ciao everyone.

Domi went after him and gave him some shots in the face. Ratboy turtled. So then Domi tsckled and punched MacAvoy in the fave a few times. Bert destroyed wortherspoon or whatever his name is...loved the Leafs fight tonight. Overall it was really a close game. Huts were 46-45 Bruins Leafs win the scraps...

3 games in 4 nights which turns to 4 games in 6 nights. Doesn't excuse everything but really not a great time for a flu bug to hit the team.

I see some debate, and I'm generally curious. McCabe crosschecked two different players at two different times. So say that's two penalties, should not be a 5 on 3? I always thought of a double minor as a single infraction that's worth more than 2 min.

Assume the refs didn't confuse McCabe for Knies in this situation, should it still not have been a 5 on 3? What if I high stick a guy and then 2 min of play later, refs arm is sore, I trip another guy. Is that a double minor? Seems weird if it was a double minor. IF another play did that trip it would be a 5 on 3.

At the end of the day, Marchand is still playing, and we are down a guy again.

Trev gets some credit for inserting some pushback into the lineup which has historically embarrassed this team.

I feel the league should have some sort of tracking of injuries players are involved and every 3 regardless of intent earns a suspension, because... maybe it was on purpose, and if not on purpose that player involved in multiple injuries has to be more aware of their peers on the ice. I am sure every player in the union would support a policy that further protects them. Plays that come to mind are Crosby clipped by Steckel, Chara breaking Pacioretty's neck, Perry on Tavares, THE RAT X43... etc.

The refs f'd up. It's a dbl minor meaning 4 mins because it's a single player, dbl infraction. Coyle got a dbl later in the game and they messed up there as well. Coyle should have gotten 6 mins instead of 4. Bert was cut so dbl for highsticking. A bad call changes a game and it did last night. Credit to the Leafs tho...They gutted it out and dished some out. Loved it.

McCabe's penalties should have resulted in a 4-minute, 5-on-4, power-play.

It's funny because the exact situation happened later in the game (where one player received two penalties on the same play) against the Bruins and the refs were able to call it correctly.

Edit: What GT said.

But if two different players have two different penalties in the same few seconds, it's a 5 on 3. If that's what the rules state, then that's what they state, but it seems odd to me that the rule is applied differently just because the same guy has the two unrelated infractions.

But if that's the case, then damn you stupid refs!

I think the ref can hand out two different penalties or one double minor. If after a whistle someone facewashes 3 guys and wrestles one to the ice, the multiple incidents can get grouped into a double minor but something egregious as McCabe's two face crosschecks to two different players did not get grouped together but got called as 2 separate penalties.

Refs call them separate. Coyle got 2 for highsticking and 2 for interference I believe. The problem with the McCabe fiasco was they didn't call 2 crosschecking penalties. They only called one on DeBrusk. The one on Marchand wasn't called. Calling Knies for roughing was an absolute joke and put the Leafs at a huge disadvantage and changed the game.
