Canada Announces Players Invited to Camp for World Juniours

Man, im tired, I'm not sure if I'm gonna go to sleep at all. It's over 5 am here. Watching hockey is not good for the nerves.

That's weird. I wanted Sweden to win and I thought to myself I'd even put up with it if Ottawa's pick scored it (can't spell his name...)  ;D

I'm no expert on the world juniors but I can't help but feel as though there's something off when so many top notch players coming from Canada never play in this tournament for Canada. Maybe it's just me but it seems as though Team Canada tends to favour guys after their draft year a little too much at the expense of super talented players in their draft year.

Canada does seem to prefer the more physically mature players, it seems. After 3 years without a gold, that may change for next year.

Which makes me wonder why Brad Ross wasn't on the team. The guy has super pest written all over him, plus he seems to be playing strongly in the WHL.

From:  http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/43988-THN-at-the-WJC-Sweden-subdues-Russia-for-gold.html

If Canada needed a blueprint to beat Russia, it came a game too late, as Sweden showed how it?s done in the final game of the World Junior Championship in Calgary.

...the slow start and lack of physicality that doomed them against Russia in the semifinal...

The Swedes bested Russia by hemming in tournament MVP Evgeny Kuznetsov, outskating their opponent and pressuring at every juncture.

?We tried to forecheck hard and cover the boards with the two other guys,? said 2012 draft prospect Filip Forsberg. ?And I think we had a lot of success with that during the game.?

And when necessary, the Swedes got great goaltending from Minnesota Wild prospect Johan Gustafsson, who had been only so-so in the tournament before the final.

Well said.
