Any wagers as to who it will be?
St. Louis?
Giroux?
Neal?
Staal?
Hall?
@HockeyCanada
Martin St-Louis has been named to the #TeamCanada roster for #Sochi2014, replacing Steven Stamkos.

I thought the team had up until the day of their first preliminary game to make any final roster changes because of injuries? It sucks that he can't go, especially since he should have probably been on the team in 2010 as well (I'm not really complaining that he wasn't of course considering how that ended up). He'll have to wait until 2018 to represent his country at the Olympics now, and that's if NHLers even go that time around.
Glad St. Louis was named his replacement. He definitely deserves it.

Even if he did get "clearance" to come back, he would be a guy going 3 months without playing from a significant injury and then being expected to line up against the best players in the world in a short tournament. That's crazy.

Potvin29 said:Well the team doctor said they're going to re-evaluate him in 2-3 weeks because he's not fully healed yet, so he wouldn't play even if he waited until the first game regardless.
RedLeaf said:What surprised me about the whole thing is the fact the doctors didn't do updated exam/X-ray last week before everybody's hope was built up for him making the squad.
Nik the Trik said:I don't know why but I'm not overly thrilled with the choice. St. Louis is obviously a good player but I've never really been impressed with him internationally. I think, despite the point totals, there's been a reason he's been passed over the last two Olympics.

RedLeaf said:What's your guess as to why he's been passed over so many times? Size would be the obvious guess. He does have the speed required to play on the bigger ice surface.

I'm okay with the choice but it feels like there was so much attention put on the fact he wasn't chosen the first time, plus the talk hasn't really subsided at all ever since, that Yzerman almost had no choice. It seemed to almost get political, like the most offensive thing Y could have done was to snub him again.
