Listening to Burke on the fan right now ?other than the 3 points, Nylander didnt contribute anything?.

Even without the points, Willy was fine out there. He was winning puck battles.

Not according to Burke. He was invisible for 55 minutes.

I like Brian Burke but his comments since joining Sportsnet are often ignorant.

I remember him saying in the off-season the salary cap for this season was going to be $40m.  ::)

Admittedly not paying attention to these things is probably better but what's the actual criticism here? All good teams that have success in the playoffs have players who really only produce on offense.

I just think it?s funny, basically saying that other than his contribution of 3 points he didnt contribute anything.

He's always going on that the Leafs will have to trade Nylander.

The best thing about Burke criticizing Nylander for only scoring 3 points last night is that this is the same person that sold the teams future because he believed Phil Kessel would be the franchise's saviour.

Good point. Kessel wasn't known for his 200ft game.

Sorry, I didn't mean you. I meant Burke. Even if what he says about Nylander is true he's still good and good value.

Hard to listen to a guy analyze a roster that miss judged his own roster so badly that he traded away the next two years first round picks going into a season they finished second last. Let's beat that dead horse again... Seguin and Hamilton.

I really hope this team can figure out how to keep more pucks out of their net. Let's hope last nights sloppy D was growing pains because it was ugly. Felt like the same old back there.

Game takes:  Marner outside of his assist was not a force. Anderson looked weak, Campbell should be given the opportunity and run with it.  Personally I would trade Freddo and run with Campbell and Dell. Get something for him while he is still worth something. He is not our playoff Goalie and won't be resigned.

Sorry to say it but Jumbo Joe will not stay on line 1, to old and slow, fine as C #4 or try him at #3 for a while. Still a good addition for the locker room.

Said it before,  I think Brodie will be our kicking boy before too long. Just saying.

Do we really need at Holl at 2 Million when Sandin and Liljegren are ready to play?

Simmons,  Barbanov were pleasant surprises.  Matthews and Nylander, beast mode.

Some people just can't let go of a comfortable narrative.

It's a money-making narrative; there are more clicks to be had for being very wrong than being right.

I was thinking that at least they didn't fall apart when they got down a couple.

They looked a more calm in comparison to the sort of manic play once they got down last season.

Or maybe I just don't remember well given how long ago they played.

That's like saying other than blocking a few pucks directed his way Frederik Andersen didn't contribute anything

So, Nylander was on the bench for 42 minutes. Didn't even once offer to fill up the gatorade bottles.

Run with Dell and Campbell?
That's a huge gamble. Don't see the Leafs taking that chance.
Brodie was fine and not just because of the way he played. Rielly looked like old Rielly last night.
Hill is needed at #4 because Liljegren isn't ready for that role yet and Sandin doesn't play the right side. Now if Lehtonen can play the right side and at 4, maybe.
Holl was fine last night. Muzz struggled, Bogo wasn't good.
Let's see what happens next game.
