This has loss written all over it.

Not just loss, but ugly loss. So, I actually expect a win.
I say it's going to be a double surprise game for me. I'm so convinced they're going to lose that I pretty much expect the opposite and they win.  But then, they do the opposite of that and lose.

So, double surprise, which is really no surprise at all.

Oy. I like Bernier and all, but, I don't think this is doing either goaltender any favours. Reimer needs to play and Bernier probably needs a break.

Who is this Reimer??

I mean, we all know he will be traded at some point. Play him to drive up the value? Can't be worse than his last two appearances. He doesn't get a fair shake. Also, not like Bernier was stellar last game.

I know that coaches have favourites and everything but Carlyle's treatment of Reimer has been pretty piss poor since he got here.  Right from blaming him for the Boston collapse and onward.

.897 SV% for Bernier over last 7 starts.

As stated many times before he is nothing but mediocre. I would rather have Reimer, at least he is exciting to watch. Sorry if I am annoying with my comments.

The Leafs have done a good job of scoring enough to cover for the poor goaltending they've received recently, but, that won't hold up. The goaltending needs to improve, and, running out Bernier game after game when he's putting up those kind of numbers isn't going to help that.

I kinda blame him for the Boston collapse too. At least a big part of it.

But yeah, I did think they'd give Reimer the start tonight. Hopefully Bernier comes up big. Nelson Mandela would've wanted it that way.

This is true but here for once I see & agree with Carlyle. Reimer was awful last 2x and hasn't done anything this year to show he should start ahead of Bernier. The real question we have is whether either of these guys is the long term answer.

This is less a matter of him starting ahead of Bernier, and more about giving Bernier a night off, while keeping Reimer from going almost a month between starts. On average, backup goalies start about 1 of every 4 games. That's roughly 3 games every 4 weeks. When paired with another goalie who A) has yet to have a full, healthy season as a starting goalie in the NHL and B) is coming back from a significant knee injury, for the sake of the team's success and that starter, the coach needs to maintain that pace - and, especially when the starting goalie hasn't exactly been lights out, either.

So essentially Bernier's been as bad over his last 7 starts as Reimer's been all year.
