Capitals @ Leafs - Apr. 17th, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

I don't know how to process any of this.

When it was 3-1 I thought for sure they were going to lose 4-2

Just ... holy crap

Bownsie's call of Willy game-tying goal. Props to Hymie's hard dump and chase and Auston's behind the back pass.

So much win in this photo: Jays announcer Buck Martinez in an Auston Matthews jersey with a giant-headed photo of Leafs 2017 Unofficial Playoff Mascot Dart Guy.

Washington never should have let us back in this game.  Their advantages over us are in net and on D.  I'm starting to like our chances.  but even if the leafs don't end up winning this series...no one can say it was a cakewalk

For about 2 seconds, Shanny was a fan. Then right back to business.

I gotta hand it to Lou.  That man is a not a man.  He is a cucumber.

Did Lou get excited when NJ won their Cups or is he stoned faced at all times?  I have to assume he's just storing it up and if the Leafs ever win the Cup he'll rip his entire suit off and run around like a madman.

Just like many others, I didn't give the Leafs much chance in this series.  Truly thought this would be Washington's year.

But man oh man how three games changes things.  The Leafs look great, and I'd be disappointed at this point if they don't win this series.  The Capitals look horrible, and are ripe for the picking.  The Kuznetsov line has been great, but the Ovechkin line has been brutal.  I've always been a fan of Ovechkin, but good God he looks pathetic these days.  He's a 31-year old playing like a 41-year old.

This season has been a coming out party for Kadri.  Puts up points, gets dirty, has energy, plays bigger than he is...the perfect #2 centre.  Gardiner and Rielly have also taken a massive step forward this series.

Small sample size, and Matthews' line is getting some match up and zone start assistance, but I will take it.

It's also nice that Trotz is only able to match them against some of his slower D. Babcock is starting to leave them on for defensive zone draws and giving Nylander all the strong side ones like he did at the beginning of the year.

Mirtle also mentions why we are now seeing the Rielly we expected to see following the World Cup, as opposed to the one people were starting to dump on during the year.

I haven't paid enought attention to Ovechkin over the years or the Capitals in general. Seems Ovechkin is a one trick poney, let one of the other players skate around the opponents net back towards the blue line and pass it to O as he winds up from on top of the circle and hits it as hard as he can.....Repeat......Repeat......Repeat
Not to much in his arsenal outside of a killer slapshot

One of Ovechkin's biggest assets is his strength and size, which he has used to pound or run over guys.  In this series, he's barely done that.  His skating has also gone downhill; he skates like he has lead in his boots.

Even his slapshot has been ineffective.  You know the Caps' PP runs on that play, and Andersen has been picking up that telegraph the whole time and just swallows up his shots.

Wow - what a game! When Bozak potted the OT winner my wife didn't need her alarm clock as my screams of delight woke her

Thoroughly enjoying this series so far!!

Ah I remember these guys, welcome back!

(also, Wellwood bear lol)
LOL....yeah, I never renamed any of those files..... LupulBear was actually MooreBear. Dunno if that one even has a job right now. I was just going through the folder and think I need some updates. Last new one I made was KadriBear. BerardBear got to be ReimerBear for a long time and will now be rebranded to MatthewsBear (guess I really oughta go in and rename those files :-/ )

I've not been around much this season (work interferes :(  ) and I assume I'm probably missing quite a few Bears. I need an updated list of all the jersey numbers....

It sort of brings to mind late-career Brett Hull. It'll be interesting to see going forward if Ovechkin can still be effective in a more speed based league.

Just cruised a couple of WaPo articles to get their perspective.  Some soundbites:

1.  Babcock outcoaching Trotz, leaving OV to play just 15 minutes last night -- not enough.
2.  TO speed has been too much for them.
3.  Caps D is really coming up small, esp. Orpik & Shattenkirk.
4.  Fanbase currently desolate.

None of the articles mentioned how Shattenkirk missed the net entirely on 4 or 5 attempts in the 5/3.  Mind-boggling.
