Capitals @ Leafs - Apr. 19th, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

I feel like our skill guys are staying with their skill guys, it's their grinders who are kicking the crap out of our grinders.

Wait the refs are allowed to call penalties against the Caps?

Edit: lol, they call it on the one objective call

I'm not sure how that Wilson hit on Rielly wasn't a penalty, but whatever.

You know, reasons and stuff. Rielly wears blue. The rules seem to be a little different when guys are wearing blue.

I'm thinking this is why they won the Prez.

Anyhow, pot one on this PP and at least get out of the period within shouting distance.

I really can't get over that Wilson hit. That's textbook hitting from behind. Even in the playoffs I don't see how you let that go. It's those types of missed calls that makes me wonder how accountable the NHL holds its referees (I'm guessing not very).

Exactly and more to the point, this whole throw the rule book out in the playoffs nonsense completely undermines the integrity of the game.

If a penalty is a penalty in the regular season, it absolutely should be 100% in the playoffs. To allow the referees to put the whistles away creates too many opportunities for these types of scenarios where even unintentionally, they are absolutely screwing the game.

maybe Reilly should have cleared that area and get back to take care of his own end.  Getting better but he has a long way to go

I feel like that's how game 1 went too, pretty much. Though I think the Bozak line hasn't been very good all series, and that's continuing.

Also, our 43's determination to will his team back into the game -- and to score the 5th goal? -- seems to have gone to theirs.

It was a great play by Wilson but I'm not so sure it should be legal for a player to effectively lie across the goal crease.

As much of a garbage fest the refereeing has been this series, the team has to focus on playing their game and dictating a pace that Washington is uncomfortable with. Beat'em where it counts and lean into the underdog, us against the world role.

Fire the refs later.

You mean after getting kicked in the face and with a guy on top of him?

No, before the part where he gets kicked in the face

Agreed. Easing up on the marginal stuff is one thing, but letting plays that are clear penalties go? Unacceptable.

I understand what you're saying but let's not pretend that during the regular season everyone was happy with the quality and consistency of the officiating on a game to game basis.
