Capitals @ Leafs - Apr. 4th, 7:30pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

Alright fine I'll jump back on the wagon. This is the most fun watching hockey I've had since pre-lockout.

Now watch them miss the playoffs by one point in the last game of the season.

Philipp Grubauer will be Washington's starter tonight. Not having to face Holtby is good but Grubauer's stats this season have also been fantastic (11-6-2, 2.14 GAA, .924 Sv%).

McElhinney also confirmed for this battle of the backups.

So glad we gave up more shots last night so that Babcock wouldn't be tempted to play Andersen again.
Sorry Mcbackup but shouldn't Anderson start. this is one important game of us!!!

I disagree. Mac has excellent numbers starting and Freddie shouldn't be playing more than every other night. That's just common sense, apparently Coach Mike Babcock agrees.

Thursday might be the more important game, any way. A Leaf win against Tampa on Thursday, and they're in regardless of how tonight plays out (especially if the Bolts do the Leafs a solid, and beat the Bruins).

Yo Kadri and Marner together on the 4-on-4, not Komarov!
And Matthews with Nylander. And Bozak with JvR!

Gardiner turned the wrong way twice defending that rush. Luckily got a stick on the puck on the second turn.

Ovechkin seems to have quite a hate-on for Zaitsev.

From Russia with love.

Seen that in previous games as well between the two. Nobody stands up to OV that's the problem. I know he's like a tank but someone needs to steamroll him. Same after the Komarov hit that concussed him no comeback. That's why the Leafs need to find someone that will stand up to him. Martin isn't the answer.

This is the first time in while they've been bullied physically like this.

Would be nice to see some pushback, this is playoff hockey, they need to be able to play this type of game when challenged.

They'll have a better second but games like this is where we will struggle and why we have a ways to go to be an upper echelon team. Been saying it for a long time team is lacking some toughness. Although the game has changed I think it's something that is needed. Great to have skilled guys but if you don't have that grit come playoff time you're not sticking around.

I think you're taking my comment and using it as a springboard to beat your usual drum.

I think they can play gritty when needed.

Soshnikov, Martin, Komarov, Kadri, Boyle, Polak, Carrick, Zaitsev and several other large men like JVR and Matthews.

I wouldn't be opposed to adding a few more guys that can be nasty and be skilled, but I'd also like a few winning lotto tickets if you have them.

Speed and skill kills in this league and sacrificing either for "toughness" is never a good idea over the long haul, if you think otherwise your thinking of the NHL that used to exist, not the one we see presently.

No offense intended here, just being honest.

The first period tonight is likely the result of playing a rested amazing team on the second half of a back to back with travel.

If the Capitals pressing you offensively is evidence that you lack toughness then the entire league lacks toughness.
