Once again this team is out muscled. No answer for Tom Wilson. No one on this team wants to hit, or stand up to oppositions bigger, more physical players
I don't buy that at all. Leafs outplayed them in the 1st and 3rd. Gardiner moves the puck quickly, the 2nd goal doesn't get scored. If Marner doesn't take a low percentage shot and Rielly plays the 2 on 1 better, they don't score. Leafs didn't lose because they were out muscled.

Wasting your breath 75% of the people on here don?t think any of that is needed in today?s game.

Tons of talent on this team but no grit whatsoever.

Didn?t watch much of game but looks like they carried the play Holtby looks like he played well.

Oh well said it before with the talent we got team is underperforming with Babcock behind the bench plain and simple. Saying that team still needs to be tweaked.

The Leafs dominated the game outside of the second period where the refs helped Washington get momentum with back to back power plays the Leafs controlled this game

Moral victories are way better than actual wins

Nylander finished the night 25-8 in shot attempts, leading the team with a 75% CF. I do like him at centre but at the same time when Kadri returns he absolutely needs to go right to the Matthews line. There's no more saying that he doesn't serve that.

I think it's time to part ways with Brown.
Add in Hyman for me please. I'm sorry, this elite checker shouldn't be in the top 9.
Babs still tells bedtime stories about the checkers that could in Maltby and Draper. As he tucks in and puts to bed Nylaner, Mariner and Mathews. ?Maybe if your gud little pros, you too could have as much ice time as The Zac Hyman.?

Moral victories when you have the talent level of this team will manifest in wins more than not.

The 4th line played about 5 minutes tonight and were about 2-10 in 5-on-5 shot attempts. This specific trio might literally be the worst 4th line in the league. At least among playoff teams.

Anyway, Gauthier didn't play a single shift in the 3rd. Lindholm must have jumped on by accident because he's credit with 18 seconds. Ennis took a 01:04 shift.

The funny thing is that it?s the same damn thing since day one.

I know and he still loves Hainsey. Hyman is a good checker but his lack of offence hurts the JT line like it did to Matthews' for 2 years. Hyman's best year was last, with 40 points in 82 games playing mostly with Matthews. Kappy has 37 in 59 games this year. Johnsson has 31 in 52 games not playing a lot of top 6 minutes. Hyman has only 29 points playing with JT and Marner ffs. That's not good enough.

The 4th line was actually decent when Johnsson and Ennis were with Lindholm. He was on taking the shorthanded draw in the 3rd. Either way, they are not a threat to score and aren't very good defending either. Time for the Goat to go and move Lindholm back to his normal position. He was better at centre then the wing.

Screw it. I'm hoping the Leafs lose to Canadiens on Saturday and the Leafs eventually drop to the top Wild Card spot.

It will be a fine line to walk though as you got to make sure you don't drop down to the WC2.

Who in their right mind would rather the Leafs play the Bruins in the 1st round instead of NYI/Caps/Pens?

They?ll have it tough no matter which team they play.  Bruins/Capitals will prove quite the opponent, Pens and Islanders likewise.  I don?t doubt that the Leafs can beat these latter two if they can contain Malkin/Crosby.  The Isles?  Emotional & motivational factors (ex Leafs, playing against Tavares, etc).

I?d much prefer they avoid Boston.  Anyone else I?ll take.  The Leafs?  It?s doubtful they care who they?ll play.

Lol Muzzin goes from top pair to bottom pair in 11 games. Give it another week and Babcock will be healthy scratching him

This will have to wait until the minutes roll in after a handful more games, but my guess is we are looking at 3 2nd pairings.

Looks like the minutes shook out as two top pairings and one sheltered defensive pair seeing as they didn?t stick with static pairs for this game.

5v5
44: 16:49
8: 16:46
51: 16:10
23: 15:54
22: 13:43

Anything to the avoid the bruins.  But at this point they have to just make the playoffs.  East is tight.  Of all 9 teams fighting for the playoffs the leafs are the easiest team to play against.  Loose on the puck, unwilling  to battle in the corners and star players that aren?t doing much.

Babcock continually preaches playing heavy, but the more he says it the less heavy they play.  Players aren?t responding to him.  Babcock is getting the least possible out of this group.

You're wrong. In the history of the NHL, Babcock has never shortened his bench.

Never.
