Capitals vs. Maple Leafs - Mar. 20th, 7:30pm - SN, Fan 590

Nice to see an immediate response to a couple of the Capitals goals to create some distance again.  Good win.

How Washington is on the cusp of a Wild Card spot is beyond me.  They stink.  Well, besides the fact that the East is awful after the top six teams.

Not to rag on the guy but Sandin made some boneheaded plays tonight.

He?s lucky he didn?t get 5 and a game. Should be a suspension. That?s reckless and dangerous.

That was totally intentional by both Gregor and Wilson.

No call on Gregor...double minor for Wilson (whose was more obviously deliberate).

I don't think the Leafs have anything to complain about here...they got 4 minutes of PP time when it could easily have been only 2 or simply coincidental minors.

They reviewed it and decided it wasn't even a match penalty so I doubt there is any suspension. I don't know what he was swinging at, he wasn't trying to lift his stick. It appears to be a swing of the stick at his head. How do you interpret it any other way?

I need Wilson on my fantasy team, PIM, and hits... fantasy playoffs next week.

Wilson gets a total pass here. He was just reacting to the stick jab by Gregor.

You're joking right?

He started swinging his stick before he got jabbed by Gregor, but, sure...

Thankfully, the league doesn't see it your way.

As dumb as it was (seriously what was he thinking?) I figured he'd avoid a large suspension since it wasn't exactly a forceful swing (thankfully) and Gregor wasn't hurt. But that's only because of how lackluster suspensions have generally been. Or at least the non-Leafs ones. Glad he's not getting off light. Even if this was retribution for something Gregor did swinging your stick that high just ain't the play.

Trying to understand the suspensions is just not worth wasting your time.

This definitely deserves a suspension but no way would I have expected it to be a possible 6+ games. There?s been worse that haven?t even been suspended a game, and then there?s Rielly?s which was arguably ?worse? than this one (argument being it was more forceful) and got 5 games.
