Yeah. I mean, Holzer will in all likelihood be a rather unremarkable bottom pairing guy - and, that's not necessarily a bad thing. He's probably going to be a guy you don't notice all that much most nights, and what that really means is he's doing his job.
Well sure, but if he's getting a spot over Franson who I think has a higher ceiling and has shown more at the NHL level already, then I don't get the thinking.
I saw Holzer a few times last year (couple times in the regular season and a lot in the playoffs) and I didn't get all the hype. I didn't even think he was the best D-man on the Marlies.
The Franson situation has been handled terribly IMO. They should've played the kid last year as much as possible to see what they have. Then they would have a good idea of his value and could sign him for a correct price (or thereabouts) or trade him as he's young and has decent production.
