Colorado Avalanche (C1) vs. Edmonton Oilers (P2)

I just saw a fun suggestion to spin Mrazek into Puljujarvi... and I think Edmonton would bite on that.

Even ignoring Puljujarvi for a second I do think Mrazek makes some sense with Edmonton. They need a goalie, have a history of their pro scouts going after former Leafs even if their time here wasn't exactly the greatest (Ceci/Barrie), and Ken Holland's had a relationship with Mrazek going back 10 years now when he drafted him and Detroit and spent 6 years in their system.

That's going to have to be a really cheap acquisition for me to want him.  98 points in 259 games since joining the NHL (too soon) in 2015-2016.  5 points in 20 playoff games.

Started the season with 23 points in 28 games. Got Covid in the middle of December. Had just 2 points in 14 games after coming out of protocol. Not going to say his second half struggles are entirely the fault of that but sure looks like it at least somewhat derailed what was going to be a breakout season for him.

Also had the top CF%, GF%, and xGF% on the Oilers. Was of course fortunate enough to play with McDavid but he had a positive impact on all those numbers for Connor too:

Together  McDavid w/o  Puljujarvi  w/o
CF%59%52%57%
GF%69%47%58%
xGF%61%53%57%

Even if he doesn't ever explode offensively, a big/fast 45-50 point winger who puts up those types of on-ice results is something every team should covet.

Puljujarvi's a good style complement to Tavares being a big body with speed who could free up pucks for him, for whatever that's worth, but he could also keep up with a Matthews-driven line if Keefe decides to goose the captain's on-ice value by stapling Marner to his wing.

Holmberg - Matthews - Puljujarvi
Bunting - Tavares - Marner
Engvall - Nylander - Kase
Steeves - Kampf - Anderson

45-50 points is a pretty big projection though for him.  This year is the only year he put up numbers like that and as you said, 23 points in 28 games and then 13 in 37 the rest of the way.

The previous year he put up 25 in 55 the year before.

I'm not sold that his 1/3 of a season of excellent production wasn't just a hot streak (production wise).  I get that his peripheral numbers are good but depending on his contract that's risking a lot to rely on a guy with a very small sample size of the kind of production we need to add for secondary scoring.
