Coronavirus

In these large scale insurrections the National Guard (in the US would be called out).  It seems to me that an armed forces solution to removing these convoys would be either supplement to the police or outright take over the situation.  However our politicians have neither the will or the guts to take an executive decision.
What we are seeing is next to anarchy.

I can easily see why the army isn't being called in. The Cons would have a field day with that. The RCMP was requested by Ottawa and their assistance has been granted.

At some point, hopefully soon here, they need to stop calling this shit a protest.  I'd say the protest was on Saturday when thousands marched around and then left town.  I had no problem with that.

The couple of hundred zealots that remain aren't protesting, and I also wouldn't say they are demonstrators...they're occupying illegally and harassing the public.

I think what the police are doing thus far is avoiding escalation...they're hoping they simply get bored/run out of money/get reasonable/lose their will.

I think if you escalate this into full on mass arrests and ensued violence you'll make martyrs of these people and reinvigorate the more moderate zealots.  Seems the strategy is kind of similar with the border blocking in Alberta, and the reporting needs to quit calling those perpetrating these actions a "Freedom Convoy"...call them illegal terrorists.

I think this is all a calculated thing, and I don't think it's cops not wanting to do anything.  I'd bet those guys on the ground would love to drag these extremists away.  I'm reading the police are upping the ante today, so we'll see how this goes, and we'll also see what happens at the protest at Queen's Park today.

It sure is interesting when the cops worry about that and when they don't.

I don?t get the logic here.  They are committing illegal acts but we don?t want to enforce the law because they might break more laws in retaliation.  I think I might agree with this if my local OPP station wouldn?t be out in 30 seconds to arrest me if I sat on my horn outside their station.

If they were standing on the sidewalk impeding no one I?m fine with the argument that you just wait them out.  The second they become disruptive that courtesy should end

Well, these morons are in the city now. There's a bunch of tractors lined up outside the ROM which is roughly 10 or 12 blocks east of me. Haven't heard anything but I guess we'll see how it goes.

There?s a YouTube channel filming the protest from the ground (pro-convoy), so he?s making it very easy. A website has also already gone up to track which trucks are participating with commercial property.

Where are these police tough guys now?

I really think someone needs to explain to these guys why what they're doing is so futile. Blocking off Bloor, North of Queen's Park isn't catastrophic to the city. Bloor Street has a subway if you need to go under and you can just go a few blocks North of where they are to Dupont to get around them.

So who's really affected? Health care workers on University and the unlucky folk who have to try and get across University/Queens Park above ground. So delivery drivers mainly. I don't think they're going to win over a lot of hearts and minds by just aggravating a small group of working Canadians and, I guess, making some Yorkville weenies look at them disapprovingly from the safety of the Cartier store.

They?re also taking over mall parking lots. I saw some video of these idiots at square one and Sherway gardens - but it?s not convoys, it?s just idiots in pick up trucks honking their horns and waving flags.

This whole thing is one the one hand making my blood boil and on the other hand leaving me so sad at the state and demise of society.

All they need to do is set up a free Brooks & Dunn concert at Molson Park and both "convoy" protests will empty out quickly. Especially if there's Coors Banquet being served.

As mad as I am about what is going on in Canada that man is a felon who is able to avoid Justice simply because he has a job in politics.  He?s facing felony charges that he is blatantly guilty of and gets to defer the courts because he is the attorney general
