Coronavirus

We?ve actually just returned from our first (post? Mid?) COVID pandemic holiday/vacation. We booked a last minute job about 2 weeks ago and headed off last Saturday.

It took slightly more preparation with a few extra forms to fill in. But the airlines and airports have their procedures running very slick. I?d say on our arrival in the airport in Tenerife it added an extra 2 minutes maximum to the various checks as they checked our vaccine certs (or in my wife?s case her proof of negative test) etc.

Interestingly on arrival back in Belfast nobody checked a thing (although we did have to show locator forms and vaccine certs on check in to receive our boarding passes).

It was absolutely brilliant to get a break again for the first time in 2 years and everything felt very safe and comfortable.

Cue the ?you need to be nicer to the non-vaccinated crowd.  Give them cookies instead of the stick? nonsense.

I was thinking about this. I mean, at what point does the carrot not work, and at what point is it not on public health communication for failure to capture certain groups of people? When you're up against outrageous claims and outright lies that aren't held to the same level of scrutiny then the fight is completely asymmetrical, especially in people who are reflexively anti authority/government anything.

The protesters in Vancouver should have their health cards cancelled.  Blocked patients, impeded ambulances.  Christ

Yeah. As much as I support the right to protest, this is unacceptable. Anyone who blocked access to the hospital for patients, ambulances, or anyone else looking for healthcare support should be arrested. Like with other rights, the right to protest/freedom of speech ends when you start causing harm or preventing people from getting medical care.

It?s almost as though if they had got the Ontario passport system moving forward months ago, people wouldn?t have dragged their feet so long.

The reason most people online are citing that Doug Ford has been so reluctant to do anything substantial against COVID, on top of the usual reasons.

I can?t think of a more American headline than this.

The sad thing is there are probably horses and cattle that need this medication that won't have access to it anymore.

Just got out of our COVID regional planning meeting.  We were starting to shut down our mass vaccination clinics because appointment availability was so high that it wasn't justified to keep them open.  We were in the process of transitioning further vaccination into primary care clinics.

Since the announcement we are scrambling to increase our vaccination clinics because demand has been so high.

Everyone who was whining about "treat them kindly" can politely shove it.  The stick was the answer all along.

Better late than never, but man, it?s so clear the vaccine requirements should have happened months ago.

Amen.
I don't understand why people don't think some level of responsibility is required in order to have rights in civil society. It's not that difficult.

In the event that people are on the fence for the vaccine we literally have only two options: get the vaccine and reduce the health burden on society or don't and increase it to a point that grossly impacts others (and eventually yourself), far more than choice 1.

In the famous words of Rush, "if you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice."

You might want to revisit that article, champ. When you do you'll find the following addendum right up front. Spoiler alert...turns out the story was complete bullshit based on lies told by someone who hasn't even worked at the facility for the past 2 months. Gunshot victims did not wait while ivermectin overdoses were treated.

UPDATE: Northeastern Hospital System Sequoyah issued a statement: Although Dr. Jason McElyea is not an employee of NHS Sequoyah, he is affiliated with a medical staffing group that provides coverage for our emergency room. With that said, Dr. McElyea has not worked at our Sallisaw location in over 2 months. NHS Sequoyah has not treated any patients due to complications related to taking ivermectin. This includes not treating any patients for ivermectin overdose. All patients who have visited our emergency room have received medical attention as appropriate. Our hospital has not had to turn away any patients seeking emergency care. We want to reassure our community that our staff is working hard to provide quality healthcare to all patients. We appreciate the opportunity to clarify this issue and as always, we value our community?s support.?

Rolling Stone has had issues with reporting in the past. Hopefully the truth of the matter comes out. However, this doesn't change the main issue, which we have discussed at length earlier. The issue is still the fact that people are taking, and overdoing (which doesn't necessarily mean death or an ER visit) on Ivermectin based on questionable studies and is being pushed by further questionable individuals like Alex Jones.

Not Covid-related specifically, but the pandemic (and the politics preceding and exacerbating it) has surfaced a lot of brokenness.

I appreciate the update and the correction. I?m all for truth in reporting. Not sure why you have to be rude about it though.
