Crosby returns from concussion - UPDATE 12/12: Symptoms return

Friend is offering me 6-1 odds against Crosby winning the Art Ross this year, with me betting on Crosby.  Crosby doesn't win, I pay $20.  Crosby wins, he pays $120.  Not worth it?

I really think he needed to start playing Nov 1 to have any chance so don't take it, dude. Besides, he's up against Kessel.  ;)

For $20, probably worth it. I don't believe it'll happen, but, I mean, it's only $20 if it doesn't pan out. I mean, unless this is the same friend that tried to pull that ridiculous Bozak and Kessel bet with you, in which case, there's probably some ridiculous addition he's going to throw in, making the qhole thing absurd.

Right now Kessel is on pace for a 113 point season. To score 114 points in the Penguins remaining 62 games, Crosby would have to score at a 1.84 ppg pace, a clip he's never been at in his career(last year, his career high, was 1.61). That's a 151 point pace over the course of the season.

So assuming that's the benchmark Crosby needs to reach(and it's pretty close to the middle of post-lockout art ross totals) you'd essentially be betting that Crosby comes back, plays in every game and is better than ever. Seems like a bad bet to me but anything's possible I suppose.

Same guy, though he is going to pay for that lost bet (I believe him).  He says the whole Bozak thing was a joke about how Bozak never picked up points depsite playing on Kessel's line.  I believe his excuse for that, even if it's a lousy joke.

He's only won one Art Ross in his career.

6-1 odds are for teams that have a good shot to win a Cup.

Missing 1/4 of the season, I don't like those odds at all.

30-1 or something like is probably closer to what the odds makers might accept - maybe higher. It's not a bet I would make unless I got significantly better odds than 6-1.

Not to quote myself but 114(or 114.3 repeating) is actually the exact average point total for Art Ross winners post lockout. It's trending downward though so I guess you could argue that Crosby could win it with a 100 or 105 point season but even 100 points would have Crosby matching his career high output.

You need to find a new friend.

So, did the league mandate the Isles play their 4th string goalie tonight? Or, are they really that ridiculous an organization?

Montoya and Nabokov are hurt....and DiPietro got pulled early last game so I guess they aren't happy with him.

So, they are just that ridiculous then? Seriously, talk about throwing a young goalie to the wolves - his 1st NHL start is Crosby's return. Rough way to start your career.

Goal and an assist now. He's been dangerous on every single shift so far. Absolutely unreal.

He has. I just wish he was up against a better team tonight so we could get a better handle on where he's really at. Even at half strength, Crosby would be skating circles around these guys.

At this rate it will take him about 3 games to catch Ovechkin in the points race.

;D

edit: Crosby also now outscoring Scott Gomez on the year. :D
