Decisions, decisions

Is there a right handed Victor Hedman out there?
That's kind of what I'm hoping to draft/acquire.

There is a right-handed Swedish defenceman expected to go near the beginning of the draft next year. He's not a big as Hedman, but he's getting some Doughty comparisons. ;D

If his name is Borje Salming I'm going to swoon.

It's housecleaning time.  At 5PM today until end of day June 30th, the Leafs have the option of clearing out some cap via buyout. To me, I just think Cowen is worth it for his credit.

Greening can be basically buried in the Minors for basically the same relief as what a buyout could provide, as could Michalek.

I don't recommend buying out Lupul at this time.

I know the roster can change heavily from now 'til training camp - but in their small sample size together, Nylander and Greening had some decent chemistry.  I'm not opposed to Greening playing the season on Nylander's wing and building up some trade value for the deadline.

Its always a possibility.  We have no idea if Babcock will even use Nylander as a center in the fall and Greening definitely isn't top six material if Nylander is played by Babcock as a winger in the top six.

Since his credit is pretty small and the Leafs don't have any sort of a cap issue, I'd wait until the 11th hour before doing that since one of the cap-strapped teams (LAK, CHI, etc) might be willing to part with something in exchange for a little cap relief. Maybe it's only a mid-late round pick, but eve that would be more valuable to the Leafs than a small cap saving.

If nobody offers anything useful, file the buy-out papers at the deadline.

I think a 7th rounder is the most any team might offer.
