Devils @ Maple Leafs - Mar. 26th, 7:30pm - TSN4, Fan 590

It's good that Liljegren is being more aggressive playing the puck but sometimes he's a bit overboard.

What a terrible performance.  Lose 6-3 after getting 24 damn SOG in the first period.

What a disgrace
That's a bit extreme. As bad as the breakdowns have been, they still have had the chances to dominate this game. Allen has been fantastic.

The breakdowns were absolutely a disgrace.  Garbage defense all night long.

I don't know what he's talking about. What are the lines? What are the D pairings? Who is our starting goalie? I don't have much faith in Keefe at all.

How did Tavares get carried away? I was only able to watch half of the second period.

Tavares did have more hits than usual last night (7 hits compared to season average of 1.58 hits per game) but I didn't notice anything Tavares was doing specifically out of character.

Tavares bullheaded solo rushes into multiple coverage several times last night when he had plenty of winger support, leading to turnovers and loss of potential scoring opportunities. He wasn't the only one.

Whether you agree with it or not, Keefe prefers patient hockey, and when the Leafs sensed a weakness in the NJD defense, they played impatiently to try to exploit it (pinches without support, solo rushes) and got burned repeatedly in return because the goaltending was poor. NJD really only has a counter attack going for it all year, and the Leafs served it up on a platter. If the plan is to use these last dozen games to build up playoff habits and mentality, this was preseasony at best.

The way his team has played much of the season, I doubt you will have to worry about that next September. It is not all Keefe's fault. He's not a terrible coach. They never got him the D talent they identified as a need. He probably needs a goalie to stand on his head to do anything in the playoffs. I'm at a loss to figure who that might be. This roster cannot seem to be molded consistently into a sum greater than its parts - too often it looks like something less than the sum of its parts. I hope for the best but my expectations are not high. Too many games like last night.
