Flames @ Leafs - Apr. 1st, 7:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

Clarkson looks like he's moving his feet a bit more, still turns like a geriatric alligator, nice to see more effort from him.

Yeah, too little too late and all but I was genuinely starting to wonder if the Leafs would ever win again.

After you miss out on the playoffs, the wins just hurt your odds of lottery pick.

Dion Phaneuf took an unsportsmanlike and 2 misconducts at the end of the game - I'm assuming he was jawing at the ref too much?

BUSTA SAW JAY SCORE

I did! And Flopsydoodle . . . err, Clarkson! In the same game! And the Leafs won! What an April Fool's Day!

Honestly, though, really sloppily played game by both teams, with some questionable officiating tacked on for good measure. The win is nice and all, but, it really only happened because Calgary looks every bit like a team that's going to be drafting in the top 5. If that's how they play against Boston on Thursday, it's going to be very ugly.

First regular season win I've had the pleasure of seeing live and in person since 1994 (I think - I didn't get to many games pre-2005), though . . . so, there's that.

Also, thought tonight was McClement's best game of the season, which isn't saying much, but, you know, credit where credit is due.

Thank goodness that's over.

Just curious, but why weren't Lupul and Rielly credited with assists on Bolland's goal. I know it wouldn't have gone in if not kicked in by the Flames player, but those bank shots happen all the time.

I'm pretty sure I saw him say "that's an effing joke" multiple times.

I am going to be bias leafs fan now. The officials lost us the game in PHI, and it seems to me that calls against the leafs have been soft if not ridicious against us over the past five games. Not protecting Dion, but you would also be tired of the crap calls if it lasted over an extended period of time. Just saying

so you're saying there is a chance?

I get the reference believe me but the only chance we have is screwing up our draft pick.

And we've only done that every non-playoff year so there is
consistency there anyway.

Boston is here to remind us of our losing ways. Let's not forget, the Leafs *barely* beat a bottom feeder last night. *Barely*.

Just goes to show how this team can play up or down to their competition.  Against LA, we used our speed in both games this season... we outplayed them in the first game but lost, and got outplayed in the second one but won.  With that said, teams like the Blues we have a ton of trouble with because they have SPEED, SIZE, and SKILL.

We almost beat Boston last year because we used our speed really well in the second half of that series.  Sadly, last year's team was a better skating team than this years (losing Grabovski, MacArthur, Komarov, and Frattin doesn't help... the only good skaters we gained are Raymond and (to a lesser extent) Bodie up front... and Reilly at the back end.)

Good to see Clarkson score the winner.  For many, that was certainly a re-'leaf'.  Happy that the Leafs hung on for the win.

Overall fine effort.
