Hey guys, a little late to the GDT, and I am sure this isn't being discussed anywhere else, but gee whiz, that Mitch Marner is a player, isn't he?

Nobody's discussing Mitch Marner. Is he good? :P

He's OK, but he's no Matt Martin, Martin Marincin, Milan Michalek, or Mauston Matthews.

Pretty weak that the league didn't at least issue a fine to put that incident on his record

How can someone in DOPS watch that clip and not see a problem it doesn't make any sense

Its disgusting, if he just tried it once bad enough but he made sure the job was done. I have lost all respect for what was supposed to be the start of a sterling career for the son of one of the greats.

I really don't see that much of a slew foot on that play. I really don't. I mean I see the leg motion but I don't see the action of slew footing someone. Not violently anyways.

As someone who's been the recipient of more than a couple - it really doesn't take much of a wind up. A little shove with the foot and a tug on the shoulder, and it's an awkward fall, with a real potential for injury.

I have been the recipient as well. I agree it's a dangerous play. I just think people are blowing that particular play out of proportion is all. And for those upset that he's behaving this way because of who his father is, I don't really remember Tkachuk being an angel.

I thought that the Chiasson play was significantly more dangerous than the Tkachuk one. That was a clear attempted head shot on Komarov, stuck his elbow/forearm out directly towards Leo's head. It just happened to miss slightly. But if that connects that's the type of hit that gets 5-6 games for sure. So not sure why that's not suspension worthy just because of was off by a few inches.

Yeah, it's not just that he kicked him and he fell down. He did it with zero seconds on the game clock in a 4-0 loss. That's the part that stinks. You want to slew-foot a guy during a competitive game fine, two minute penalty if the ref sees it. But anything dirty in the last minute of a blowout game should be an automatic in my humble opinion. A slewfoot is worse than a trip because the guy is falling backwards, potentially onto the back of his head. Or as with Marincin here, the weak leg that crumples.
