If I squint, I could say Lorentz-Laughton-Jarnkrok is a pretty credible checking 3rd line. Domi's is a sheltered scoring 3rd line. Then it's not so bad. I am guessing Holmberg and Laughton get swapped halfway through unless Holmberg is on hat trick watch.

There's no way the Knies-Matthews-Marner line deserves to stick together right now though. They both put in more work away from each other.

As noted by many, including MLHS recently, McMann-x-Nylander is a legit weapon, so I don't know why they've been avoiding it.

Tavares works better with checky grinders.

Against a Calgary team without an elite line to stop, and with home ice, why not try:
Knies-Matthews-Domi
Holmberg/Robertson-Tavares-Marner
McMann-Laughton-Nylander
Lorentz-Kampf/Holmberg-Jarnkrok

And Phil Myers over Benoit so OEL can be on his strong side. sheesh.

I mean this is the way the organization has run. Matthews and Marner get attached at the hip (and in fairness for the most part its led to them being on track to be 1-2 in franchise scoring if Marner returns)

But its frustrating how there is never an appetite to make a consistent change. Good opportunity for Woll to put up a solid game and try and reclaim the lead in the playoff goaltender hunt. Stolarz is speed wobbling.
Tired of all of it. Rinse and repeat year after year. Laughton on the 4th line lol. I didn't like giving up Grebonkin yet alone throwing away another 1st round pick.

Lines don't matter if the players don't feel like skating and winning some puck touches, so let's start with that at a minimum going forward.

Based on what I've been watching, Holmberg seems to relish the role of getting in the corners, banging bodies and fighting for the puck. McMann, who seems like he should be better at the role based on his size and speed, seems less interested. I think that is the difference. He would prefer to be shooting - of course he has a great shot so maybe that spot isn't best for him.

Overall Holmberg has been better than McMann for a while now. It shouldn't be that way.
