With the hat trick so far tonight, Lupul is now tied for 3rd in the league in goals for and tied for 5th in points.
and besides Lupul, they still have Gardiner.. whatta deal!

I was saying how that deal looks more like a robbery with every game this season.

Yes hard to believe he is just two goals back of Kessel now.  Number one line without a doubt.  Grabs is also now up to last years pace or better with 9 points and 5 goals in 12 games.

Man where did Gus learn to handle the puck...he's really good at it this year

And there's another one right out of harm's way

What a save by Brodeur! Regardless of whether it was saved or not, it's a great illustration of Connolly's talent.

Great play by the Leafs in the build up to that, phenomenal save.

Loved Kessel's reaction - what else can you do but smile?

I have to question what you're asking for here, the Leafs have been brutal on the pk tonight, you honestly believe the discussion is outside of tonights situation?

I'll go along with what you want if you admit I'm not allowed to criticize the current state of the team.

Yes, I honestly believe that, why else would I say it?

You can critcize them all you want but there is a thread called "The Special Teams" to get into in depth discussions about the special teams.

I'm not going to discuss this and further in this thread either, as its also off topic.

I hope the debate over whether Gustavsson is a capable NHL goalie is over.  He's got the skills to be a starter, and has shown it these last few games.

I don't mean to be a pain but I do want to see more. I'm not comfortable - yet.  :-\

Neither am I. I'm still not convinced he's consistent enough to be able to play like this over a full season, and there have still been too many weaker goals scored on him than I'd want from a starting goalie. He has, however, allayed my fears about him as the back up goalie.

Absolutely!... He's certainly done a nice job holding the fort.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that he should be the starter, he is too inconsistent to have earned that.  But he's got what it takes to be a starter, and by virtue of that is surely good enough to be a backup.  And if we are lucky we'll have a 1A/1B tandem ... with them pushing each other to see which is which.

Yeah. Kessel didn't get all of that puck, but, 99 times out of 100, he got enough to bury that one. Oh well.
