1-1 coming out of Boston?  I'm taking that.

Leafs can't get baited into playing more games like that, though.  They weren't skating in the 1st and they cannot play like that.  But they fought back, Andersen was brilliant, and the D -- the D! -- was the best part of the team.

Keep it up.
Yep, split is good. Kadri will be suspended for at least a game. Leaf forwards had no answer tonight for the most part, looked like they wanted nothing to do with the physical play (except Kadri, but he can't control himself). Lots of rushed plays, weak shots from low danger areas. Hopefully they get things together and are prepared for the next game.

This really isn't a disaster. We didn't get the PPs or the bounces, but apart from Nylander, the pushback and compete level as a whole was great to see.

Hey, if Toronto fans were offered a split coming out of Boston, who wouldn't be pleased?

Apart from Nylander? What about Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Johnsson, and Kapanen?

They competed. Nylander was an abject disaster tonight.

Exactly.  Split of the first two is a good result.  Just hope Kadri isn?t suspended and he can control his aggression for the rest of the series.

What's the over/under on the suspension? I'm going with 3 games as a repeat, repeat offender

One thing about a possible Kadri suspension: the refs invited the game to get out of hand, and surprise! it did.

The refs should get suspended too. Ridiculous game.

I don't understand why Kadri just didn't body check him instead of putting his stick up. Would have been fine

Premeditated cross check to the face by a repeat offender...  there goes our depth for a second season in a row. What a clown.

IMO, the DeBrusk knee on Kadri looks more suspendable than the Kadri stick on DeBrusk.

It's Boston you know that's not going to happen.

How bout another Matthews no show.  This guy sure isn?t stepping it up when it counts.

I thought he was a lot better than Tavares tonight.
I agree. He was one of our best forwards with 5 shots and actually created a few chances. He was also pretty good in his own end. In the end tho, we got a split so all is good.

Really need to think about trading Nylander in the offseason.  He isn?t an xfactor.  Unless people think he will rebound next season.
Selling low is not a good idea.

This is a good point.  I guess you could look at the acquired cap space as the win in the trade.

Just. Stop.

I've tried to be as tolerant as possible, but this is just absolute garbage.

Because he's not worth anywhere near what they signed him for?
So giving away a good player. Yeah we haven't done that before.
He's a good player at 5 million a year, he's way over paid at 7. He's soft at the best of times, make great offensive plays if there's a chance he can score otherwise he skates around the net and throws it away, or like everyone else on the team (which Boston has figured out) he skates into the zone and stops and cuts back which works if you don't do it every time you enter the offensive zone. Just wondering which good player that we were overpaying did we give away? Phaneuf? Colburne?
The Leafs have a history of giving away good players who end up becoming better elsewhere and you know it. I don't have the patience to dig up the research but off the top of my head Steve Sullivan, Alex Steen, Anton Stralman, Kenny Jonsson. I'm not saying don't trade him. I'm saying you will get trash value in return on a down year.

It is poor asset management to sell low on a player. It's a really basic concept. I really hope you don't buy your own stocks.

Some guys get too emotional. Kadri is one of those guys. That's why Babs was telling him to shut up last game. If he hammers DeClown there he gets zero. If he drops the gloves, he probably takes him with him. Let's hope he doesn't get suspended because having Nylander at centre looks like a disaster waiting to happen with that compete level he displayed tonight.
