Game 32: Bruins @ Leafs - Mar. 23, 7:00pm - CBC

Was at the game.  Kadri was really good.

Orr actually had a really solid overall game.  He's clueless with the puck on his stick but he chipped the puck along the boards well and broke up a few Boston chances with intercepted passes.  His fight was enjoyable too.  Overall I think McLaren is actually a better 4th liner though.

Bozak is clueless.  He looks to pass when he should shoot and shoots when he should pass.  He came in on a 2-on-1 and had a glorious spot to shoot and passed the puck into the guy who had a bad angle and was being covered.

The Leafs really need to work on getting the puck out of the zone.  They rush clearing attempts without looking up the ice and then take too long making decisions when they try and carry the puck up and get stick-checked.  It seems pretty simple.  Keep your head up when chipping the puck up the boards.

I really hate to admit it but Cherry is right... Use the glass to get the puck out. Too many times i see us trying to clear the zone when it is obvious that their pointman is going to seal it off and keep it in. Glass and out will solve that more times then not.

We need to learn to clear the zone more efficiently and to try and let our goalies handle the puck on only the rarest of occasions.

First game I have missed in a long time and they pull off a win against the B's.  Oh well.

All 3 goals were pretty sweet, but I think the Leafs will have a tougher time winning like that with Rask in net on Monday.  He probably only lets in 1 or 2 of those.

But we are getting Lupul back on Monday and he made the Kadri line ridiculously dangerous (dangerous enough to pull Chara away from the Kessel line?).  Should be a great game.

Hey if Julien wants to throw Chara out every shift for Kessel he can go for it.  We have offensive depth.

Guys are probably more gun-shy about using the glass with the potential of getting a penalty if you miss.

Yeah, I would say this is a pretty good factor.

That was the idea of the rule.  People wouldn't just ice the puck when stuck in the defensive zone and it would lead to more scoring.

Then shouldn't icing be a penalty?

I wonder if Kessel sees the attention Kadri is getting and has elevated his game because of it? I know it's kind of a silly thought, but I just see Kessel more involved and playing more defense, since Kadri has become the top dog so to speak.

If it's true, I like that Kessel has that competitive spirit in him, it can only make our team better in the long run.

I think it is a maturity thing with Kessel, he was scoring so much at such an early age that he kind of rested on those laurels as a young player.  We have started to see him round out his game more and more over the last couple years and struggling to start the season was probably the best thing that could have happened for Kessel.  It knocked him down a peg or two and really he has quietly put together a pretty productive season.  I mean for all we have complained about Kessel this season he has 30 points in 32 games and as good a playmaker as Kadri is, Kessel is tied with Kadri in assists at 20.
