I'm sleeping with LupulBear again tonight. (Before anyone says anything untoward, my husband is on a string of working nights right now and I hate being alone in the bed, so I pick a stuffed polar bear to sleep with and last night it was LupulBear. I think I'll make that a permanent arrangement for hubby's work nights)

Is LupulBear, um.... anatomically correct?

That guy looks like a captain.

If we're basing it on scoring goals, shouldn't it be Kessel?

Easy there killer. We all know your love for Kessel.

If you want to base captaincy on goals that's your right to do so.

Oh no you busted my love for our leading scorer.

No, that's your reasoning, "killer."

You're a sad, sad man.

Great time going through this thread knowing the outcome.

I was smiling broadly at the "Where is the timely Lupol goal" post

I just did the same thing.  ^__^  This game was a bit of a rollercoaster and it shows in the comments.

Well that is a relief and a half.  I'm just going to gift every team all of their games in hand to make things more difficult on the Leafs to stay in a playoff spot (but keep every team in their current position).  Points in brackets are the current standings

6) Toronto          42
7) New Jersey    41  (37)
8) Rangers        39  (35)
9) Islanders      37  (35)
10) Carolina      38  (32)
11) Washington  35  (31)
12) Buffalo        33  (31)

Looking pretty good for the postseason as that would have each team with 13 games left and making up 5 points in that span isn't going to be easy for the Islanders.

http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL.html

Leafs now have a 97.6% chance of making the playoffs according to Sports Club Stats.

http://www.hockey-reference.com/friv/playoff_prob.cgi
96.6% chance with Hockey Reference.com

If the Islanders had lost (particularly in regulation), that number would have been even higher.

Last night's game swung the playoff chances between Carolina & Toronto 14%. It was a true 4 point  important game.

Of the remaining 13 games the Leafs have left, only 2 teams are ahead of them in the standings - Montreal and Ottawa. Sometimes thats not a good thing as some of those teams will be out of the playoff picture and playing loose. But i'd still rather this scenario than playing Pittsburgh and Boston 6 times.

Same here. I didn't get to watch the game. Reading the comments is hilarious. We have some emotional people on here.

Losing: "leafs suck, they're horrible, Reimer is the worst!"
Winning: "leafs are awesome, they're so good, I love you Lupul, have my baby!"

This made me smile  :). That 5-hole goal sent things in a bad direction.

LupulBear is a female and no, she is not 'anatomically correct.' She's a stuffie!

To be fair, there are certain members of this site that would feel that way regardless of game outcome.

Not me. I'm old enough to be his mom. My worship is purely theoretical. And the fact that he's a damn good hockey player!

Carlyle doesn't know the exact point, but in the last few weeks it was brought to his attention by assistant coaches Scott Gordon and Greg Cronin that they sensed there was too much coaching going on.

The players constantly had coaches in their ears and as a result their minds were too cluttered. They became too edgy. So the coaching staff reduced their chatter, the players relaxed and started to win again. Toronto now has points in seven consecutive games.

Lupul has been a big part of the turnaround since he returned from his broken forearm. The 29-year-old left wing has been dynamite.

"It's always nice to score a goal like that with - how much time was left - three or four minutes?" said Lupul, who scored with exactly 3:10 remaining. Jay McClement and Nikolai Kulemin added empty-netters.

Lupul revealed that he feels fresh because of all the time he's had off with the back injury that cost him 87 games in 2009-10 and 2010-11, a separated shoulder at the end of last season and his forearm ailment this year.

"There is nobody who prepares himself more [than Lupul]," Carlyle said. "He should be commended.

"[On the winning goal], he was determined and he wasn't going to take no for an answer."

I am seriously debating flying to Toronto for a weekend, when the playoffs start... Even if I can't get a ticket to a game or they don't play in Toronto, just to be in the city when the playoff atmosphere is going on would be epic!

Ah, yes, when the Leafs are in the playoffs, there's no city quite like T.O.  Should they win the Cup....let your imagination run wild!  :D :)

I can imagine that real sports bar down at the acc would be nuts.
