@mirtle 55s

Leafs scratches tonight are MacArthur, Komarov and Gardiner.

Ugh - from 20:00+/game to scratched.

Well, Carlyle's lineup decisions can be baffling but I give him credit for not being reluctant to bench people.

He was pretty reluctant to take Holzer and Kostka out of the lineup.

But he did it, after we told him to enough times.  8)

sorry I'm late, was having a bath. Thought it was a 730 start........

pssssst Tyler, you still need a friggin' haircut!

Lol, it seems that way! Carolina must not be much of a draw...

It is tough to pay attention to every game with this congested schedule though I think. I know they wanted to get as many games as possible, but 3 or 4 a week is hard work for fans never mind players

Very nice sequence by the Grabbo line there.  (Although Hamilton doesn't look like a 30-goal scorer at any level.)

plus with 7 defencemen, all of your defence would see less icetime.

That's not true. A 7th defenseman doesn't mean you have to reduce the top pairing's minutes.

60 minutes divided by 6 dman > 60 minutes divided by 7 dman.  Sure he could keep the top pairings minutes the same but then the other dman would have their ice time further lowered.  It only makes sense have 7 defenseman if you don't want to give much icetime to any of you defence.

7 defencemen in these type of cases usually means one get penciled in on the 4th line wing. If the injured guy can no longer go then the 7th slides back into his place.

Kessel was very good that period.  A couple of dangerous rushes and some nice passing.  Frattin also looked dangerous, would love to see him get one tonight.

Agreed on Kessel and Frattin - thought Kadri was good too.

Peters has done a decent job in goal for them too, no amazing saves but done alright. I think he needs tested a bit more though, move him side to side

Best period all season for Kessel?

@camcharron

I had the chances at 7-1 for Toronto. Take away the chances that Phil Kessel was directly involved in, however, and it was 1-1.

If I praised him, it must be.  :o :o :o :-*

You just knew when the 4th line was on against the Canes 1st line hemmed in the Leafs zone it was going to be a penalty.

I think we may regret that Grabs couldn't snap that one home.  Let's see how the PK does.
