@leafspr Nazem Kadri is the first Leaf to record 2 hat-tricks on the road in one season since Wendel in 1993-94 season #Leafs #TMLtalk

Wow.

The year Wendel scored 46

9 points ahead of 9th place Islanders with 12 games to go. (well, 13 for the Isles left). 10 clear of 10th place Carolina.

Folks, the PK stats they are reciting right now is the reason this team has turned around after so many years in the wilderness.

That and the goaltending which is a part of that - they  haven't been flashy but they've significantly reduced the softies/stoppable goals against.

There's been some blips and it hasn't always been pretty, but, overall, the Leafs are much better on the defensive side of the puck this season than they've been for a long time.

Yep. Lots of shots from the outside. Fewer defensive gaffes.

The wonders that happen when you actually have a defensive system in place eh? ;)

In part, due to the 9th place (in win%) Islanders loss today, combined with this win, Leafs chances of making the playoffs climb to 98%

Yes gang I think at this point we can forget about missing the playoffs and focus on getting the best possible seed.  4th spot and even 2nd isn't out of the question now.

I think Wilson had one. They just couldn't play it without sacrificing too much offence.

With Lupul injured at the end of last season and the beginning of this season I totally forgot how good he was. I actually thought to myself "how big of an impact could he have on this team when he gets back?" Holy cow was I wrong.
