We'll win tonight, people will shut up for a night, think things are on track... then lose tomorrow.

Guarandamnteeee

It's insane how jekyll and hyde-e people are right now.

I think we have some reason to be this way... Leafs are the worst team in the league right now in the past 10 games.. it's really horrible.

Since the lockout, they are bottom 5 in the entire league.

Bottom 2, Florida and Toronto are the only ones who havent even made the playoffs once.

If Florida gets in this year and Toronto doesn't, I don't think it'd be unreasonable to say that the Leafs were the worst team over the entire term of the last CBA.

Shatting all over them won't make them any better, I also don't understand how it makes any of the shatters feel any better.

I think it's because people are frustrated because there is an issue here that isn't/can't be addressed. Voice their displeasure over this, while not actually solving the problem, may make them feel better.

Blaming our lame play on the deadline is probably the weakest excuse I've heard all year.  How can this explain the 29 other teams that played better than us right before the deadline?  Must be all that pugnacity, testosterone, truculence and belligerence that makes the team so sensitive.

I thought they played very well in this stretch of games... except for the goalies.. :)

For me it's just looking at it objectively. I don't need the Maple Leafs to make me feel better and I take no pleasure in trying to put lipstick on a pig.

In the spirit of hoping the boys bring it home the last 20 games:

I watched it and felt better and more hopeful.

No more excuses now, it's all in their hands if they make it or not.

That's a better explanation.  Things aren't good right now.  Saying that they aren't shouldn't be considered taboo.

1.89 goals for per game and 3.89 goals against in the last 9 games.

If you look at our season averages of 2.92 and 3.02 (which would have been better before this stretch, by my calculations 3.09 GF and 2.87 GA), it looks to me like the offence has dried up even worse than the defending has imploded. (Allowing 1 more per game, but scoring 1.2 less) And the goalie isn't the only factor in GA either, the defense have not been very good.

I think it might be easy to focus on a few bad goaltender performances and gloss over the fact that pretty much the whole team has been subpar for the last 9 games.

It's kinda like when they go down 4- or 5-0 in a game, I just feel then like I want to see them lose 10-0. I would find that more enjoyable than them just cruising to a 5-0 loss.

Not to mention practical matters like the sooner they fully implode the sooner we can be rid of you know who.

I have to admit I am conflicted between by desire to watch the team win games and the desire to finally move on from the arrogance in failure that we get from Ron Wilson.  I really want to see his smug head roll but sadly the failure we'll have to endure before this happens seems to have no limits.

Yep, let's sit the only guy who gets the puck on net from the blue line.

I know they won't sit Dion, despite the fact he misses the net 91% of
the time.

I had read that JML was out as "he admitted he was still feeling the effects of his concussion". Not sure where i read that but I know I did.

You can't forget that when a team gets down early bc of bad goals, the other team will play defensive hockey to defend the lead, which makes it harder to score.  It's a crap situation.

Concurred junction. Sure it's not fun to get the goaltending needed to fearlessly play the run n gun style, but the leafs simply get outplayed so badly for long stretches that I can't blame the net, but the system. I'm as sick of Wilson as i was of JFJ during his horrific time here in Toronto.

I'm not sure what to expect in this game but I hope they can turn it around, even though if they do Wilson will take all the credit and probably save his job.

You must be watching a different game than I am. Franson hits shinpads in front of him or missed the net the majority of the time. Of course Dion misses more often than he does but I have yet to see Franson hit the net more that a couple times a game. Sit them both and bring up Holzer! Just because I want to see what he's got.

I thought he's been pretty decent with his shot selections, his defensive game not so much but he's more physical than I thought he'd be too.

Palmy love your name and the mask. Definitely my favorite Leaf goalie of all time. But think I have to side with lama on this one. I think Franson does a better job at getting shots through reason being he doesn't try to put it through the boards. More often than not he usually takes a wrist or snap shot. With Dion on the other hand it's usually a missile with no GPS. You see any of our forwards screening the goalie on the PP. 2 reasons for that. One Wilson doesn't have a clue how to run a PP and second why would you with Phaneuf shooting the puck. He has no clue where it's going.
