Game 69: Maple Leafs @ Capitals - 5:00pm - The Elimination Game ?

Tim Connelly got more ice-time then Ovechkin.  Would you do a Kessel+ for Ovechkin+?  I'd be excited to see Ovechkin with Grabovski.  Would be even more excited if I could put Kulemin on that line.  Think of the difference in the Leafs season had Kulemin been on the same or better pace then last year.

Leafs have now gone a little more than 7.5 periods (plus an overtime and shootout) without scoring a goal.

That game was awful even pvr'd at 15x and eventually 60x.

The depths to which the leafs have sunk is evident in the TMLfans GDT page count:  7

Before the crash of the old site and us sucking more then a toothless hooker 7 pages would be done before puckdrop. Shakes my head at the depths we have sunk to.

To be honest there's a few things that could've went as planned through last season and we'd be in much better shape. Kooly and Reimer's goaltending and I think there's no doubt we would've made the playoffs.

This team really has fallen off a cliff, and I don't think even the most pessimistic of fans would've thought they'd go on a skid and win 2 of their last, what is it now, 11?

16. If they'd even gone .500 in that stretch, they'd be in the playoffs, and, if 2 of the games they turned into the wins were the games against the Caps, they'd be there comfortably.

2 wins in 16 I think  and the 2 wins came against 2 of the 3 bottom teams in the NHL.

The team has once again shown its true colours, just as it does every single season. Lame team, lame organization.

I'm glad it's over. I don't have to spend the rest of the season pretending that they have a chance.

As long as the Leafs don't act like they still have a chance, I'll be happy.

What does that even mean? Should they just stop trying to win games?

It means they should just keep doing what they've been doing for the last 16 games.

the irony is, we dont have to worry about all the "tank nation" stuff.... they are gonna do it on their own, easily.... what? Every goaltender has a career game against the Leafs? I think not .... we suck outside a few bright spots ....

And that makes you happy?

It doesn't make anyone happy but the definition of insanity is
doing the same things over and over and expecting them to change.

Maybe we should actually try and do it the way that almost all have done it?

It doesn't mean that it has to be complete but if we could potentially
get a true bonafide potential superstar - at least out of this miserable season then it's at least some measure of something gained.

It's sure a lot cheaper than doing it through a trade or UFA.
