Game 7: Leafs @ Bruins - Apr. 23rd, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

But you can't blame Babcock for the fact that Tyler Ennis was your best player in a Game 7 elimination.  Or that Rask easily bettered Andersen.

Tavares bounced back, I thought.  Marner ... all I can say is that he'd better reveal he's been playing on a broken foot or something since blocking those shots.

He hasn?t been the same since that game we won where he blocked those shots at the end of the third. I?ve been wondering if he has some hairline fracture or something.

Looking forward to Herman?s explanation of how Babcock was limiting Matthews? minutes during the season so that he could play more in the playoffs. Not trying to single Herman out because I almost bought that explanation. But the last couple of games were terribly coached and managed.

Babcock made roughly zero adjustments throughout the series.

I think Tavares did.  I think Matthews did.  But 34 can't score from the bench.

Yeah. Bench management is something Babcock needs to fix if he?s going to have playoff success again. Down one going I to the third, top two lines should have been given a lot more time. Special teams are definitely an issue right now - especially the PK and the second PP unit. Need to somehow move Marleau this summer. He?s done.

Rask won it for them tonight, but the Leafs had to win that 6th game at home.

I know people are in gripe mode, but the Leafs impressed me more this year than last year. Need to work on the pp
and pk big time and a lot of that falls on the coaches. Should be interesting to see what changes come this off season.

Have a good summer everyone.

What you can blame him though for is not making the adjustments. He played Willy with the 4th line guys what one time?
Marner had a horrible series as did the rest of the JT line. Only threat we had was Matthews who was easily our best forward.

Babcock has lost two consecutive Game 7s to the Bruins.  You look at what Trotz has done in his first year. He is too stubborn to make changes on the fly. He's got to go.

Support the Raptors brothers and sisters.  They had the guts to trade their franchise player and fire the Coach of the Year.

That's what it takes.  True courage.  The Leafs are bunch of wussbags.

Yes, Patrick's a wonderful guy, but he's done-done.

Special teams?  The PP should have been great, never was after October.  Never got fixed.  That's just bad coaching.

I am not on the tar-and-feather squad for Babcock, but someone needs to knock some self-entitlement out of him, because he's got some real flaws in how he manages this team.

Seriously. He comes across as a petulant little baby. The whole my way or the highway crap. I don't think it will happen but he really needs to be fired.

Had less points with an 11 million dollar addition. That?s a great impression. Sorry disagree.

Well, the silver lining is that Mitch is no longer in the running for an $11M contract.
I would agree. He had a terrible series overall. I've said it all year, he is not as good as Matthews. He's a bonafide star but let's remember who his linemate was. Without Tavares he doesn't get near 94 points.

Babcock will blame the players and take no ownership for the loss. He will then present himself with an MVP trophy and hint that they need better players to win.

Yeah. I don?t think he needs to go just yet, but he needs to be put on notice. Fire his assistants, takeaway some of his favourite toys (aka vets who are no longer useful in the role they?re being given), bring in some fresh ideas, and see how next year goes. No need for rash, drastic moves, just some smart changes.

Well, that?s that.
Herman, you are probably the most gifted poster on this site, and Nik seem absent.  I never bought into the Leafs going far this year, we were sold on a 5 year plan and it's not 5 years as yet.  We need three defensemen who can handle the pressure (Sandin seems one), we have the O no doubt, once we have the D we will win.  But with this D in its present form, we would have been swept by Columbus as will the Bruins, perhaps the B's can take it to 5.  Can't take much comfort on this.  Next year Boys, next year!

Also I am a Bab's supporter, think he gets one more year, but thats it. I think in 21 you have Keefe and Dubas laying out the fact that Moore and Ennis should have played this game with Willie, that Babs just couldn't disrespect Marleau to his detriment and ours. That Hyman should not be taking so many PK faceoffs etc.

Two days ago my best friend broke his neck biking in Arizona, he is 67 and thank God he is not paralyzed. It gives this loss some perspective, he has a long road back to normal.

The only way Babcock could ever be fired this offseason is if Matthews blew up at him.  Which would be very bad all the way round.

I agree with your comments.  Very level-headed.

Panel just said Matthews only played 4 minutes in the first 14 of the 3rd and Babs only played him a lot when the game was pretty much over. And Cherry was right about Rielly's stick on the 3rd goal. Get your f'n stuck out if the way.
