Game of Thrones (S6)

I really liked the episode. I think it would have been much, much more amazing if people hadn't figured out the two biggest plot twists in it (the wild fire plan and R+L=J) before they happened. The 2nd one being something people had known for years and years. Stupid internet.

I never read the books but I think they really set up the Jon thing poorly in the pilot. You can't telegraph that who Jon's parents are is going to be a big mystery and then not give us any insight on multiple possibilities. Anything other than the reveal they made would have had absolutely no set-up and therefore not been all that interesting.

Fun things from the New Rockstars Episode 9 analysis:
  • Robert Baratheon's Touch of Death in the Pilot is fulfilled
  • Bastard sigils are colour reversals of the House sigils. For the Starks, it's a gray direwolf on a white background over a greenfield. Jon's would be a white direwolf on a gray field.

Sad to see Natalie Dormer go.  I liked her character.
Arya returning and going faceless god on people was expected
Now we have Vipers, Horse, Unsullied and Dragons vs. Cersei and her undead guard.  The winner will take on the frozen undead.  Fun times.

Touch of death?

Meh, I'll give it a 6/10. I wish they could have dispatched some of the subplots throughout the season, instead of dragging out certain aspects that didn't really require it and cramming it all into the end.

Apparently when he visited Winterfell to see Stark, anyone he touched has bit the big one.

Yeah. Robert hugged Ned and Catelyn, shook hands with Robb and patted Rickon. He avoided contact with Sansa and Arya, Bran, and Jon in that scene.

Why doesn't the many faced God take vengeance on Arya for taking a life that she wasn't assigned to do?

Perhaps that face wasn't paid to the MFG. perhaps she took it on her own, outside of the temple.

Not super impressed by Arya's baking skills. Seems to me you're not going to throw big chunks of finger into the pie if you want the cool reveal. She had a pal who baked to learn from so there's really no excuse for that sort of kitchen sloppiness.

It's longer than the episode was, but totally worth the watch -- especially the musical score analysis of the Sept of Baelor scene in the first 10 minutes.

It's not something that I really think GOT has been noted for before, but that score really was tremendous.

That piece was the highlight (highsound?) of the season for me, audio-wise.
When the pipe organ layered on the GoT theme too? Chills.
