Habs @ Leafs - Apr. 7th. 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

So I think that leaves Matthews as an above a point per game for the season (62 games, 63 points). Feels like a while since we had that?

Lock out season Kessel had 52 in 48, prior to that it was Sundin with 76 in 75 games in 06/7

After sitting back a bit cautiously all game, the Leafs Corsi-stomped the Habs in the 3rd to protect their lead.

Habs could only score when our defender takes the goalie out or tips it in on their two-man advantage.

Bruins topped the sens but the Lightning lost in OT to the Hurricanes, so if Boston wins against a Barkov-less Florida tomorrow, we draw Tampa Bay for round 1.

Here's at least one Cup prognostication that has the Leafs likeliest to make it to round 3 in their bracket.

I know all coaches are smarter than I am but if I'm setting up a kill against the Leafs I probably have a guy covering Matthews instead of Komarov.

I didn't quite catch it during the live feed, but it sounded like Komarov was talking to Matthews on the bench prior about taking away the sticks in the lanes to free up the pass?

Babcock post-game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pt8ipbG7Gy8

In case you thought he was blind, Mike Babcock publicly recognized current-scratch Andreas Johnsson as the catalyst for the Matthews-Nylander PP unit developing confidence recently, because he's a real gud man in the middle.

Here is my other favourite remark:

Unspeakable tragedy.  Heartfelt condolences to all the people and families affected.

Many took to social media to convey their sympathies & emotions regarding this terrible tragedy of the Humboldt Broncos bus/tractor-trailer crash:

Beat the Habs all 4 games, that's more like it

As you say, "bueno".  :)
That last goal on Price was bueno. Summed up the entire mess of a season for them. 8 years, $84 million coming up!
I think a lot of these long term contracts to guys who are nearing the end of there effective capacity are going to go away. I would never pay JVR more than 7 per for a 3 year deal with option for 4th. As Miller said at the end of Private Ryan:  "Earn this".  These guys are getting older, younger with the speed of the game, so why tie yourself into bad deals forever?

Because it becomes a bidding war on an open market.  If you offer JVR 7 for 3 years, and someone else comes along and says well we'll offer you 7 for 6 years, which deal is he taking?  Also, you can't have option years anymore because of the cap.

I do think that you'll see things shift a little bit, as teams lock up good young players for full length term as they are coming out of their ELC, which means that the actual UFA's at 27-28 may start to dwindle and you'll see more guys hit UFA at 29-30, which may change the expectation on those types of contract.  We'll have to see where the trends go.
