Hurricanes @ Leafs - Feb. 22nd, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

Fantastic game for a Kapanen so far his rush leads to this goal. Great feed to Muzzin against the grain and speed of play.

Anyone else underwhelmed with Clifford? 4th line I understand but I was expecting a crash and bash type of demon.

He really isn?t a great player.  He had that one fight that got the team going but I did expect more gritty hits.

Kappy started that one. No replacement for speed!

There isn't.  I really hope they don't have to deal him ... but they might.

We have to deal one or two of them if we want a better defense.  If it comes as a package for a top 4 RHD it?s still going to be more valuable than what He brings for 15 minutes a night on the 3rd line

I actually think he was a throw in but let's wait a bit before we condemn a 4th liner. A guy like him could be very useful come the playoff time.

It seems kapanen is the type of guy that plays better when he's pissed off a bit.

My god, is marincin an absolute disaster with the puck. There were three times where he was given the puck, with plenty of time, and managed to hand it right over to the canes for significant zone time. The one 2 minutes into the first where Tavares gave it to him on the reverse when the puck came back was just comical.

Fine? Probably nothing knowing this DoPS. But Sabourin got fined for spraying some water so you never know  ::)

Yes on both accounts.

Is there truly no one on the marlies that can do a better job? Gravel?

Marincin gets a lot of criticism for being a league minimum 7th defenseman.

So is Lilly who we'd all rather see.
Sure he would make some mistakes but Marincin is flat out garbage. I'd rather see Lilly get some playing time and get some valuable experience and he would be set to go for next year.

No one is expecting bobby orr, but you simply can't have a guy in the lineup that can't reliably give and receive an pass with time and space.

Marincin is quite good without the puck and as Nik says, he's league min. salary. Even compared to Lily he's more reliable on D (presumably hence why he's played the last couple games while Lily hasn't) and I guess the Leafs feel that's more important right now than slick passing.

Same. Let's see if he makes more of an impact in the playoffs.

I like Marincin well enough but I don't think he's a better option than Liljegren right now.
