I am surprised at his plus/ minus being so good. How much is that him and how much is Carolina's system?

EDIT: Not that that stat has been particularly bad for him, but when you watch him, he doesn't seem like a real defensive player.

Having the puck in the offensive zone for most the time you're on the ice does wonders for your +/-, regardless of your defensive abilities.

True enough. I just thought there would be more of a tough transition for him with another team, he certainly has done well with it. I suppose playing with a Staal doesn't hurt either I suppose.

I don't know why anyone would be surprised, he's always been very good.  His stats have always been very good.  You can see they took a bit of a dive his last couple of seasons in Washington - but if you look at Ovechkin his dropped at the same time.  I'm guessing that's when the team changed from being that high-flying one to eventually the one it is now.

Yes, the one that now sucks.

Dale Hunter had them playing pretty damn well though, even though OV wasn't scoring as much.
