Game Notes
CAR
-Pyotr Kochetkov (15-9-1, 2.50 GAA, .902 Sv%) will likely start for the Hurricanes
-Carolina lost a number of notable players during the 2024 offseason (Guentzel, Teravainen, Skjei, Pesce) but they still find themselves having a competitive season as they're currently 4th in the Eastern conference
-Martin Necas, once a possible trade option, has been the teams MVP this season with 47 points in 41 games
-Former Leaf Freddie Andersen has been limited to just 4 games this season. He had knee surgery in November and was on the ice for the first time since then on Wednesday. He's still a few weeks from playing but his next game will be the 500th of his career
TOR
-Joseph Woll (14-6-0, 2.46 GAA, .915 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
-I assume we'll be going back to the pre-Reaves game lines here but obviously confirmation of that will come at the morning skate

Have to think Pacioretty might be a little banged up so this is more of a maintenance sit than anything.

Interesting to see Rielly-Tanev reunited, especially against a team that has their 3 star forwards spread out all on separate lines.

I'm confident Benoit and Myers can shut down the opposition. They both have been playing well.

They're obviously going to have to run with a number of odd pairings while McCabe is out. Hopefully, they can come up with some that work as backup plans if/when other injuries throw spanners into the works.

I’ve found that when Willy starts to peek his head out of the weeds in a league-wide production way, he starts to get into his own head a bit and missing the net snowballs a bit. Like Berube says, he just needs to churn those tree trunk legs and win pucks and keep shooting until stuff starts going in again.
