How the heck did he play through that? From that early estimate, he'll miss training camp and probably most if not all of October.

We'll just have to concede PK faceoffs until he gets back. No one else on the team is capable of taking them.

Hyman deserves a hell of a lot of credit for playing through that.  When he fell it certainly looked more knee than ankle but holy hell.

that probably didn?t help our PK but I don?t think his performance was a big thing I would point to as a reason we lost.

Would it have been better to have 30%Hyman, 40%Gardiner, 80%Dermott...
or full health Petan, Marincin, Holl...

Playing through injury is manly and stuff, but at some point the healthy lesser player is going to be better for the team than the super injured good player.

And that's bad decisions from the staff. It was clear Hyman was hurt because he wasn't skating the way he usually does so why didn't they move a guy like Moore/Ennis to the top line. Clearly they could skate. As for the D, it was painfully obvious Gardiner was hurting so why on earth did they not play Rosen instead of him? Again bad decision.

Babs is so old school, loyal to a T and to our detriment,  Marleau on 4th line next year please.
Yes and def yes regarding Marleau. Playing Hyman after he crawled off the ice was a huge mistake. One thing for sure now is Hyman won't be traded during the summer. I still think they need an upgrade offensively on the left side of the JT line. It will be interesting to see who starts on that line next season if he isn't ready to go.

Hyman is one tough hombre. We need more like him, especially on defense.

Maybe so but if the team knew this about him, how is Hyman playing the same amount of minutes in game 7 as Matthews?  Hyman on one leg is better than trying Moore or someone else on the wing?

Yeah Bourne mentioned the same thing on Good Show the other day. The fact that we lost magnifies this. If you win then it's a gutsy move. Funny how that works.

Oh no. I agree. There were more than a few questionable decisions by Babcock. The way Keefe has been coaching the Marlies team, I?d love to see him get a shot with the big club. I just don?t see that happening anytime soon. Someone mentioned the possibility of him becoming an assistant coach for the Leafs next season. That would be a step in the right direction.

They were the 2nd most productive line in the entire league.

Are you implying we shouldn't improve them at all, or just that we should focus and improve elsewhere?

I'm saying Hyman-Tavares-Marner was one of the very best lines in the entire league this season and I don't see it getting better with any other left winger in the organization.

Really? I think Johnsson would be a huge upgrade. He had more points and was playing mainly on the 4th line for half the year. I think a kid like Moore who has more offensive upside would be better suited for that line also. They need more offence from the left side. Hyman only got 41 points playing with 2 superstars and that's not good enough. I can see Hyman along with Brown being traded to help pay for Johnsson/Kappy who I think have a lot more upside.
