I think I now understand. Police are colourblind to white.

I actually felt bad for a good number of the police officers that were first on the scene. Grabbing and arresting IMO would have led to even more issues.

Given how long it took to organize the first impeachment, even though McConnell did not allow any evidence to be presented, it would seem impossible to make impeachment happen. Even if it were possible, McConnell would stall things --- moving forward with impeachment would place his fellow Republicans in electoral jeopardy as Trump's supporters would attack them. Everything McConnell does, including speeches in the last day, is to further long-term Republican power. Don't delude yourself into thinking he suddenly had an epiphany that Trump is a bad guy and feels like now is the time to "stand up for what's right." It's just calculated political posturing because he sees how the winds have shifted.

I don't want to give FB too much credit here, since they're one of the largest (if not the largest) source of how all this bull#$#% conspiracy/qanon stuff spreads, but this is a pretty bold thing to do.

I would have had the army surrounding the building from the start. At the least a lot more National Guard. This was not necessary even with lunatic Donald calling for a march.
