Art.

Trumpism distilled into a 2 minute clip. Talking over people, ignoring facts, continually pushing completely debunked garbage, completely ignoring the actual questions and going off on unrelated tangents to spread conspiracy theories . . . it's perfect.

I'm looking forward to this from the Impeachment trial.  The question is going to be who says the most insane stuff.  Hawley/Cruz or Trumps legal team?

One of the things that's become abundantly clear to me over the last few years, especially given some of the stuff that's gone on in US and UK politics is that not a lot of people really understand anti-semitism and the various ways in which it presents itself. It's an old and ingrained hatred that has lots of recognizable tropes and stereotypes and education on it isn't what it should be.

That said, I really would hope Americans can see the difference between someone making unfortunate use of stereotypical language when making criticisms of the Israeli government and believing that Jewish bankers own space lasers that set forest fires.

Just astounding. Not a single Republican votes to kick the QAnon space laser lady off the House Education committee.

But, please, keep saying she's at the fringe of the American conservative movement.

I mean she admitted 9/11 happened, cut her some slack.

Agreed. Both are bad, but one is a result of a valid position sliding into anti-Semitic territory, while the other could be pulled straight from a modernized version of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. They're both harmful, but only one comes with a strong risk of encouraging violence.

To put in perspective, Rep. Omar's comments disappointed me. MTG's legitimately disturb me.

Not only has America proven that the President is actually a despot, this sets a very dangerous precedent for the future. No consequence if you try to overthrow the government.

Dan Carlin is gonna need a new title for his current Death Throes of the Republic series.

McConnell?s speech was a joke.  Absolutely went in on basically how guilty he felt Trump was but voted no anyway for reasons.

The notion that you can?t be impeached for something you did as President because you aren?t sitting in office anymore is a piss poor argument.  In 2025 we could hypothetically have Trump back as President.

It was an embarrassment. The logic is so flawed. The idea that this would lead to a litany of impeachments of "private citizens" is utterly ridiculous. His idea that we can rely on criminal courts is so weak. The Senate leader was correct: this now leads to a precedent where someone guilty of a "high crime or misdemeanor" can simply resign.

The President is a despot if you have the votes in the senate, full stop.

It also ignores that there are sometimes events that are ethically reprehensible but potentially not criminal.  So yeah, you could just simply resign and escape any and all consequences.

I highly recommend this article about what it's been like to work at Trump's DC hotel the last few years:

https://www.washingtonian.com/2021/02/19/trump-hotel-employees-tell-all-what-it-was-really-like-serving-right-wing-elite/

There are a lot of things that will perpetually confound me about people voting for Trump but high on the list will always be why so many tried to cast this NYC Private School Fancy Boy who engaged in bitchy twitter beefs with Bette Midler and the editor of Vanity Fair as the epitome of American Masculinity.
