Internal Competition

why don't we use our imaginations and say we can have four scoring lines. Lombardi, Kadri and Frattin. Let Aulie do the fighting.
Or we could have a very amusing line of Colbourne, Kadir and Frattin known as the KFC line.

The more I think about it, the less likely I think it is that Kadri, Frattin and Gardiner will make the team.  Line combos aside and barring any trades, here are the 23 of the 29 remaining players I imagine will stick with the big club:

1. MacArthur
2. Grabovski
3. Kulemin
4. Kessel
5. Connolly
6. Lupul
7. Armstrong
8. Bozak
9. Boyce
10. Rosehill
11. Orr
12. Dupuis
13. Lombardi
14. Mike Brown
15. Phaneuf
16. Schenn
17. Aulie
18. Liles
19. Komisarek
20. Franson
21. Gunnarson
22. Reimer
23. Gustavsson

Of the 29 in camp, I think these guys will be Marlies for at least the start of the year:

Frattin
Kadri
Scrivens
Crabb
Lashoff
Gardiner

If Brown and Lombardi end up on IR to start the year, Kadri, Frattin or Gardiner would likely be sticking with the big club at least temporarily while a roster spot is open.

Personally, I think that if Lombardi is good to go, I'd give him 8-10 games in the AHL on a conditioning stint before putting him out there with the Leafs. That would open up a spot for a kid to start.

Barring another injury while with the Marlies, the longest conditioning stint Lombardi could be sent on is 14 days.

Okay... 14 days it is.

I'm not sure about every one of the others on your list but I'd be surprised if both Orr & Rosehill both made the NHL roster as healthy regulars. For a number of NHL teams, the enforcer role has either been eliminated or is a part time job.

EDIT: didn't see Nik's post

I hope you're both right.
