Maybe too cute but why is Rielly, who is the last man back trying to pick it up like that off his skate? All he had to do was stop. Nice shot and all but that's 2 I think Sammy couldn't been better on.
 
Stop dumping the puck in. Every shift.  Dump in.  Islanders get it and shoot it back out. 
 
A game like this really gets my anxiety up about the playoffs.  This feels like the same thing that burns them in the postseason every year.  Tight checking.  The refs call none of the minor interference on the forecheck and the Leafs struggle to get things going
 
ESPN commenters saying that Leafs big concern is goaltending.  Can't say they're wrong.
 
Get the officials off the ice.  They don't call anything but they get in the way of the puck
 
I take it this has been the proverbial defecation of the bed by Samsonov.  I've only seen the goals against this period.

He's not giving ye pick away but he's not good enough tonight. Even that last one he looked weak on.
Game 1 starter still up for grabs. Let's see what Murray does next game.
 
I don't understand pulling the goalie down three like that.  No incentive not for the Islanders to just dump the puck like that

This team still doesn't know how to adjust to tight checking when a team is allowed to hold and interfere on the dump ins

I think it's also time to stop playing preseason with the lines.  So many mistakes and sloppy play.  Time to start getting back on track before the playoffs

I think they need to strategically loft it out and create chaos mid-ice when they are having trouble executing their usual plans.
 
Good.  The whole team should stay back and get bag skated for this third period effort

Leafs started the 3rd with the lines back to normal and gave up 4 goals...1 an empty netter.

I think Matthews and Marner were fine. Bobby Mac was the only + player for the Leafs and got his first point.
