JVR says he feels fine and intends to play Saturday.

I'm actually excited to see him play. This could be a breakout season for him. Maybe not, but it COULD be.

JVR only played 43 games last year, but DID score at a 56 point pace. Taking a half-season's output and translating it over a full year is an inexact science but it can show us a sign of what might be to come (if he's healthy). I don't we'll see JVR score over 70 points and become a 1st line winger, but he can be a solid power-forward 2nd line guy. And to think we got this guy for Luke "5th d-man" Schenn.

pairing JVR with Kadri and Komarov might be a stroke of genius. I think this line will be very dangerous.

Can't wait to see JVR do this for Toronto: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tvphe_Jbs4s

It's funny that JVR has sort of flown under the radar so far.  He's the biggest trade of the summer for the Leafs, and yet his name isn't really being brought up that much.  All the talk was whether Kadri makes it (he did), who the starting goalie will be, the cutting of Connolly.  Kind of nice for him that he hasn't been subjected to the "you must save the Leafs" type of talk.

He has flown remarkably under the radar. Probably a product of his not really having put up serious point totals yet at NHL level, but that will change soon if he is put in the position to excel. Very soft hands and I love how he skates.

48 points in 48 games!

JVR's passing ability is underrated, that video shows at least 4 times where he makes impossible like passes to waiting players in front of the net. I hope he stays healthy, as he has a sweet pair of hands.

Hahah

No, but he is a veteran around these boards. I have been snooping around here for 12 years already, come to think of it. Wow time flies.

But seriously ... JVR/Kadri/Komarov.

Lights out.

Well that's what tempered a good bit of my excitement.  I had heard his name before and with the hype I was pretty stoked, but then when I compared his salary to his stats I understood why he was traded.  Combine that with the lockout months killing interest in everything hockey and it's not hard to see why he has been kind of forgotten.

Still he could do well and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do here, just not as hyped as I was before I looked at what he has actually accomplished so far (and then waited extra months for the season to start).

I haven't looked up to see how it actually compares, but just off the top of my head .53 PPG + .55 PPG as a 21/22 year old with about 14:00/15:00 per game strikes me as pretty good.

He is awfully young still. An 89 baby. I'm prepared to be patient, but I think from his first couple shifts it will become apparent that we have not had a commodity like him lining up on the left wing for quite some time.

You're assuming that Schenn doesn't put it together and become quite valuable and that JVR doesn't continue to struggle with his health.

I'm still of the camp that dealing Schenn could come back to haunt the Leafs though I suppose, moving him when they did assured the Leafs that Schenn still had some value.
