Kaberle to Montreal

I'm amazed that we got Colborne + 1st and a 2nd for Kaberle. Less than a year later he goes for Spacek?

Teams often throw caution to the wind when they are on the precipice of a cup win.

DarrenDreger: Spacek is a UFA end of season, so Carolina unloads Kaberle's $4.25 this year and next two years.

what if kaberle doesn't turn around his game.  That is alot of money for deadweight.

Im fine with his salary and term and couldnt care less about Spacek.

Not to mention Markov's uncertain future, Kabs provides some of that skillset, though he needs to shed that Czech beer flavoured ice cream inch, I'd be ok with it if I was in your shoes too.

His decline is pretty understandable.  I think his personal life must be a mess and it's bleeding onto the ice, before he left here he was having marital problems, that has to hurt.  Toronto was also his home, he definitely won't feel that sense of comfort, in Boston, Carolina or Montreal, at least for a while.

He seems like damaged goods for now, fat, unhappy and under-performing.  Hopefully Montreal can give him the time and stability needed to fix what ails him, unfortunately it'll be tough to turn things around at his age and with the Montreal media hounding any bad play, he could be in an even tougher situation.

A healthy Kaberle, Markov and Subban would give Montreal a ton of punch from the back end.

There's maybe the possibility that people are reading ever so slightly too much into a bad start to the season for Kabs.

As a Kaberle fan, I wish him personal success surrounded by miserable failure.

Not just a bad start to this season, but a bad stretch with the Bruins last season too.  There's many who believe he added nothing to their team.  Certainly didn't help the powerplay at all.

Does TSN have online editors lol?

"Worse, Kaberle has been this ineffective despite being protected by facing the lowest quality of competition (per www.behindthenet.ca) among Carolina defencemen and starting a greater percentage of shits in the offensive zone  than any Hurricanes regulars."

Absolutely, it's also his partial struggles in Boston, showing up in Carolina outta shape and as you said a bad start at least in part because of it.

He did tie for the scoring lead amongst Bruins defensemen in the playoffs despite only playing 16 minutes a game. He was a +8 in those playoff too.
