Kadri suspended 4 games

The only reason I care about this suspension either way is that it makes Kadri more of a repeat offender when it comes to any future questionable hits, during seasons in which I actually want the Leafs to win.

Repeat offender status lasts 18 months. We'll be fine.

I really question whether the slate really gets wiped clean after 18 months!  Once a player has a reputation, it pretty much sticks with them for the rest of their careers.  The more the reputation, the quicker the fines and suspensions IMHO.

One thing that REALLY puzzles me is that the Leafs keep playing Kadri with 3rd line talent. Why Horachek refuses to break up that first line and see if Kadri can get something going with JVR and/or Kessel is beyond me. It's ridiculous really how they are mishandling him...

Maybe you don't reward a player with better wingers if you're trying to prove a point like off-ice habits make a difference.

Maybe because he does think Kadri is a good enough player to play with talent. IMO he has played mediocrely with except of a few games here and there.

He is still a kid and he will round into form. He has the ambition, he will figure it out and when he does we are in for a treat.

Seems to me that this is the same type of post we've seen after each of Kadri's seasons so far

Some take longer than others to find the consistency, not saying he will for sure, but a new coach could help him find himself.

but in the meantime he might not even score 40 points this year.  How does this affect his ability to sign with TO...they will likely want another bridge deal.

His 82-game scoring pace is only 3 back of Bozak's, and that's with significantly less powerplay time and worse linemates. He's also outscoring Bozak at 5-on-5, putting up 7 more points in 9 less games. His 28 5-on-5 points ties him with JVR and Kessel for the team lead, but again he did it in 9 less games.

Here's a good visualization from the analytical side of Kadri v Bozak:

If it looks confusing at first, it's actually very simple.  The different numbers around the outside signify what is being valued (Rel = relative to the team).  The closer to the edge, the higher that value.  Dash grey line is league average.

What's kinda crazy is that most of the talking heads all talk about Bozak as the better player. It's kinda mind boggling that 99% of them don't have enough integrity to actually research things before spewing an opinion that they insist is absolute fact.

23/26/49 > 18/21/39  That's all they look at.  Context doesn't matter.  Scoring pace doesn't matter.

Does Kadri's penchant to get suspended count?

So...the only metric that Bozak scores higher than league average is TOI%...what's TOI%?

Percentatage of a teams ice time that a player receives.

Thanks C, I'm just wondering why it is then that Kadri seems higher than Bozak?

Bozak has a higher minutes per game than Kadri.
