Real_ESPNLeBrun: The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed Mike Komisarek on waivers
He must have requested it, otherwise, this wouldn't be possible.

Even if he does get hurt, he can get bought out as long as he gives consent. Considering the situation - one season left on contract, not getting playing time, etc - I can't imagine he'd refuse unless the injury kept him out for the entire season, in which case, the Leafs would just stash him on LTIR.
Sarrrge said:If he gets injured, we can't amnesty him, no... but his cap hit wouldn't count either, right? - like Savard.

If he gives his consent, he can still be bought out with a compliance buy-out. Unless he actually can't play for the entire season, there's no reason for him to refuse.

You do have a point.
There is at least some similarity to the refusal (until yesterday) to call up Gardiner, namely it seems that once an opinion is formed as to a player's ability and role with the Leafs, that is it.
CarltonTheBear said:As long as he isn't really teaching him how to play defence, Komisarek could be a very positive influence for Rielly when he joins the team.
