leafplasma said:Very noble of him and if he agreed to waive his NMC he would have suit up with the Marlies in order to collect his paycheque.
Zee said:So, does this mean Leafs don't have to waste a compliance buyout on Komisarek? If he's on the Marlies the salary doesn't affect the Leafs cap right?
Nik said:CarltonTheBear said:As long as he isn't really teaching him how to play defence, Komisarek could be a very positive influence for Rielly when he joins the team.
Even if that's true, outside of playing the same position is there anything Komisarek offers in that regard that's unique? There are other good guys on the team.

Really? Noble?
CarltonTheBear said:I don't think anyone else on that team has 500+ NHL games (except Connolly). He's a 10-year NHL veteran who by all accounts is a great teammate and leader. It might not mean much, but I think it's a pretty easy call for who Rielly will be sitting beside in the lockerroom.

That's old CBA. New CBA will count him against the cap.
Champ Kind said:I disagree with the comment above that Komisarek is aweful at playing hockey. I'm with a select few others on here that believe he mertited another chance to play, and likely wasn't as bad as he's being projected. I do think, however, that pencils have erasers and once a something seems to become a mistake it needs to be corrected. Komisarek could no longer play in Toronto, though I by no means think he can't play or that his days are done.

But, say, if he passes through waivers unclaimed you'd have to figure that's a pretty strong statement, wouldn't you?
Champ Kind said:Well, wouldn't you agree that it could be as much, if not more so, a reflection of his contract than his skill or ability? I mean, Scott Gomez found work pretty quickly once the burden of his contract was relieved and his regression, I would wager, was greater than Komisarek's.

I don't think you could have found a lot of people who would have said that Gomez didn't merit a demotion though. Taking a flyer on a guy is one thing, saying he merited being in the line-up, to me, is something fairly different.
Champ Kind said:Well, I think you would have found a lot of people who would have said Gomez isn't aweful, but he is aweful a $7.25M or whatever he was making. I mean, it's all relative, isn't it?
Zee said:Good on Komisarek. He's not sulking, not speaking out in the press and has accepted a demotion (if nobody claims him). He just wants to play.
