That wouldn?t just be a special season; it?d be one of the best ever by a Leafs player, maybe the best ever by a Leafs player. This is shaping up to be one of the more special seasons by anyone, anywhere in recent NHL history.
The last player to score at least 63 goals and 110 points in the same season was Alex Ovechkin 14 years ago. Ovechkin finished with 65 goals and 112 points during that 2007-08 power-play-infused season.
Only 12 players have reached those heights. And only five have done it in the past 30 years. Ovechkin is the only player in recent memory. The others: Mario Lemieux (twice), Alex Mogilny, Luc Robitaille and Teemu Selanne.

Heck, I'm not even sure it's really a conversation at this point. If the voting happened today no other skater should get a sniff at the #1 vote on a Hart ballot. Shesterkin is the only other player who would have a case for it.
