Leafs 2017/2018 Schedule in 10 game chunks

ndoEj3h.jpg

I'm liking this chunk so far.  Very reminiscent of the first 10 games of the season.  Hopefully Leafs can parlay this into a 6 or 7 win chunk.

Preds game will be tough, but anything short of a thrashing of the Sens on Saturday will be a huge disappointment.

Complete coincidence that this all started the moment Babcock put in an optimal forward line-up.

Could you imagine if he went back to Komarov on the Kadri line in that first home game after the all-star break like he said he would haha.

This alone should be enough evidence for people to finally realize that even a great coach like Babcock can make dumb mistakes.

I wonder what it would've been like to see that start last season.

Not sure it would have worked as well then without Marleau. Komarov was also playing pretty well last season so there wasn't as much of a need to get him out of the top-9.

Left side Komarov is pretty effective. I am thinking more along the lines of bumping Martin out sooner. Soshnikov/Grabner - Holland/Smith - Kapanen/Leivo would not have been as stupid.

Martin's sat 9 straight games ya?  Leafs are 8-1 in those 9 games I believe.

If Babcock came to this Martin-realization at this point last year then we probably could have gotten rid of him last offseason and re-signed Boyle too. That would have been nice.

"dumb mistakes", might be a little harsh. I believe he was preaching team D before he was willing to let go of the reigns. Similar to the 2016-2017 Morgan Reilly treatment. The fact is were firing on all cylinders approaching the end of the season. Hard to criticize a coach who has their team in this position.

So two games left to play in this chunk, chance to set a Leafs chunk record of wins.  I could have sworn I've never seen an 8 win chunk since I've been doing this, but then I went back into history and found that in 2014-2015 they went 8-1-1 in chunk 3 (of course that season also featured 1-8-1 and 2-7-1 chunks so the 8 win chunk was all for naught)

Let's get this win tonight to improve to 8-1 in this chunk with a chance to go 9-1 in the final game!  Am I asking too much???

I really wasn't expecting them to win last night given the hot streak and how Columbus usually plays the Leafs tough.

Preview of chunk 7, last game before trade deadline against Bruins.

I don't want to get anyone too excited, but the previous two chunks where the Leafs started out with 2 wins ended up with 7-3, and 8-2 chunks.

Same as previous chunk.  Leafs are 3-0 going into the Boston game.  Will chunk history repeat itself?
