Game Notes

TOR
?Andersen (29-15-14, 2.65 GAA, .918 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?A Leafs win tonight could push them into 3rd place in the Atlantic division. They trail Boston by 1 point but have 2 games in hand

CBJ
?Sergei Bobrovsky (39-13-4, 2.04 GAA, .931 Sv%) will likely start for the Blue Jackets
?Bobrovsky leads all NHL goalies in wins, GAA, and save percentage. It's a bounce-back year for him after going 15-19-1 last season with a 2.75 GAA and .908 Sv%
?Columbus was one of the first teams to clinch a playoff berth and sit just 2 points behind Washington for 1st overall in the league
?Former Leaf Scott Harrington has been a frequent healthy scratch for Columbus, but is seeing action recently with Ryan Murray injured. He recently signed a 2-year, 1-way contract extension with the team

Injuries

?Nathan Horton - Back - Out indefinitely
?Joffrey Lupul - ?\_(?)_/? - Out indefinitely
?Stephane Robidas - Old - Out indefinitely
Code:

?Ryan Murray - Hand - Injured Reserve
?David Clarkson - Back - Out indefinitely

I continue to be amazed that the above CBJ lineup is second in the NHL!
It can't all be Bobrovsky can it?

Dave Keon's 77th birthday. Named as greatest player in Toronto Maple Leaf history last October.

As thin as we are on D I am still just slightly peeved that we moved Harrington on so quickly.  Surely he's better than, say, Marchenko.

Harrington is LD and waiver eligible. We had Dermott, Nielsen, Loov, Valiev clogging up the left side, along with Campbell on the Marlies. He wasn't better than Gardiner, Rielly, Marincin, and he wasn't going to get Babcock-love like Hunwick.

Rychel is currently the Marlies' leading scorer* (after Kapanen and Leipsic went down to injury) not counting the loaned Cal O'Reilly, and plays LW where we have no scoring depth beyond JvR.

* in points per game though, Griffith is the top Marlie with 35 pts in 27 games. Rychel is 47 pts in 62 games. Kapanen and Leipsic are pretty much at 1 ppg.

Isn't Leipsic scoring depth at LW?

Yes. I forgot to mention him, remembered after, but then didn't bother to edit because I went to heat up my lunch.

Down the left we have:

JvR
Komarov
Soshnikov (never plays there)
Martin (ha)
Leipsic
Rychel
-- NHL Ready Cut off --
Timashov
Moore
Lindberg

Eric Fehr on 4th line this morning. Looks like he makes his debut tonight. #tmltalk

Lol Leivo.

Bozak is basically not going to be doing morning skates for the rest of the season with his ongoing hip ailment. Marner should be good to go, but I'm not sure about Soshnikov. I think Fehr is the primary replacement for Soshnikov due to PK, but Leivo will get a look if Marner is out.

Why trade for him then?

He was part of the Kessel deal that had Kapanen, Spaling, and two other picks coming our way. I'm not sure we traded for Harrington, per se. We were targeting Maatta and couldn't pry him loose.

Because he was still an asset, and, at the time, a fairly highly thought of one - and, even though the team decided he wasn't a fit for the team, they turned him into another asset that might be.

I know this is bad.  I know that I should be mocked.  But I was confusing Jay Harrison and Scott Harrington in my head for a while, and therefore I found the debate on why we moved him weird for a bit.

For what it's worth, I forgive you. We've all been there.

Bozak, Marner and Fehr in tonight. Soshnikov out, a little banged up. Andersen starts, McElhinney starts tomorrow.
