It'll be interesting to see if they are in good enough shape to skate like they did tonight.

If they skate like they did last night this will be a good game. If not, we will be slaughtered. I hoping Riemer has an excellent game. GLG

I'd be happily surprised if they have anywhere close to the same energy that had last night. It seems they exerted a lot against the Kings.

I think they will.. it's a matter of how long they can sustain it.  Getting a full 60 mins will be tough. Will need a few things to go their way late in the game much like it did for the Kings last night, despite being outworked.

Maybe, just maybe, Carlyle will see that last night's kind of play is much better suited to this group.

According to Carlyle, they've asked the players to play that way all season and they just got it last night.

Rask or Steen? Which trade was worse. Discuss.

Rask. No question in my mind. I thought, and still think, the Steen trade was stupid, but there was very little doubt in most people's minds that Rask was the best goalie prospect the team had in years.

Yeah Rask always had elite potential while Steen's performance right now is obviously out of the blue. And while his play prior to this season was still great it doesn't match Rask.

:(
am working tonight and will miss this one. No chance to smirk every time I hear 'Shattenkirk'. No chance to grit my teeth every time Steen scores on us. No opportunity to watch former Colt Alex Pietrangelo :(

I'd lean towards Steen. In part because the Leafs aren't hurting for goaltending right now and because they also gave up Colaiacovo who had a good year or two.

I agree that it's Rask - but this year's performance notwithstanding, you could tell Steen was going to be a solid player for years - not a superstar or anything, but the exact kind of player that Stajan wasn't.

All righty then.

I'd agree. The team could use Steen right now much more than Rask. I also think Raycroft was a better gamble than Stempniak, even though neither provided anything worthwhile in the end.

The way they played last night has got me excited that they may be able to keep it going tonight.  Hopefully they get some more G.O.A.L.S. that the advanced stats crowd is always crowin' about but if they play like last night it shouldn't be an issue.  LA got some great goaltending/fortunate luck to win - like the Leafs were earlier in the season.

So, keep it going.  Build off last game.

Which, admittedly, is a less popular narrative than his desire that the team play poorly.

Around the time his "Take a period or two off, no worries" speech was removed from the rotation.

I certainly liked the way they played last night, but it was unfortunate that they ran into a hot goalie.

What I'm most concerned about is why they don't play like that all the time? I think that's why I'm disappointed in their play most of the time, is because I know they can play much, much better than they show a lot of nights. I've seen them do it on many of nights.
