So...he still sucks?

Yeah, but now we're on firmer ground.

There is a tiny pic of him in this week's printed THN as our team's "rookie to watch" or some such.  So Baron Freeze did get his 15 minutes of immortality anyhoo.

You're really doing a number on THN's reputation this week.

They got under my skin.  And I'm dumb enough to pay them for the privilege.

I use that one, I like it because you can set your location to pretty much anywhere you like.

I can use it to watch local content in almost any country that interests me.

I've used it to download torrents too and didn't notice a significant drop off in download speed either.

EDIT: I wanted to add that I like the paid service because a lot of sites, like BBC Iplayer have started blocking the IP ranges of the conventional free VPN services and I imagine a lot of other sites will do the same.

Thanks, yeah whatever I do will definitely be paid. I've read free ones basically use your own bandwidth for other stuff.

Anyway, do you use GC? Or did you? I seem to think I converted you to HS.

So one of the knuckleheads on TSN radio was saying just now that, although he hasn't played much, the Leafs must really value Corrado since they haven't put him on waivers yet. Is that even a possibility?

It's quite possible.  They could view him as a guy who isn't NHL ready but they don't want to lose him.  I feel bad for the guy.  22 year old players shouldn't sit in the pressbox all season.  I mean sure, he gets the ride around the NHL team but he need playing time to develop, not practices.  I'm sure he will play once they trade Polak at the deadline.

It could also likely be a case of the management (or at least certain parts of it) really liking him but Babcock maybe not seeing it.

That's my take on it as well. As far as my comment above, I was confusing being able to waive a player vs trade them after a waiver claim.

Anyone here have any experience with VPNs and stuff for getting around Gamecentre's blackout restrictions? I realized a little while ago that I have a free subscription with my Rogers account and my Hockeystreams account is expiring soon. Gamecentre also apparently made some real big changes recently so I'm willing to give it a shot.

I used HideMyAss with good results for a couple of years.  Same as with Patrick's recommendation, you can set up shop pretty much anywhere in the world.

It helps that he's the only rookie on the roster getting regular playing time.

True.  Still, they could have run a silhouette head outline instead.

They'd have about the same impact on the Leafs' fortunes.

I'd rather have the inanimate carbon rod.

Thanks to CTB's diligent work, we can say that with certainty.

In the last game when Gardiner was playing in the slot on the PP I assumed he just wandered over there by mistake, but it looks like that's actually planned now. Interesting.

Yeah, PIA was really highly recommended by a few tech sites when I was shopping around and it's been a few years now with very good results.

I switched to Hockeystreams two years ago, was a GC guy before that. I know people say they've improved, but I'll never go back, when I paid for it, it was more common to have issues than it was to have a quality stream. I mean they'd blackout games that weren't supposed to be and their customer support was the most patronising joke I've ever dealt with.

EDIT: Wanted to add that PIA has a very reliable free mobile app that I've used when travelling too, nice little extra.

If the Leafs do move any major pieces off the roster before the deadline, they might end up so bad that they don't score another goal this season!

I've had 0 problems with HS, just figure if I'm getting GC for free (plus the cost of the VPN) I may as well try it.

Question though (and anyone can answer this really). I've heard stuff about GC and the playoffs. I know all nationally televised games are blacked out so that'll apply to all of the playoffs, but can you work around that or does GC just legit not even offer playoff games? I'm assuming they want them available for those outside of North America but not sure.

As I'm sure you know, even if GC do blackout the playoffs, HS usually offer a playoff package. Although, I know they weren't taking new customers at the start of the season, so I'm unsure if they'll have it this season.

Yeah I plan on freezing my account before it expires so I'll be able to re-up if I need to.

Good call.

Echoing last week, bye-bye Grabner draft pick.
