I would have been very slightly less upset about this being the level of supplementary discipline handed out if Hall was actually given a match penalty for the sucker punch like the rule book very clearly states he should have been.

This is a fun angle. Check out the puck protection via skat(eboard)ing technique once Nylander established a speed advantage. Inside skate was always on the ice (players are taught to attack mid-stride or on pivots when opponents are least balanced), and Willy's arm and leg and hips were always between Carlo and the puck.
BrownRolo said:I just watched the game. In what world does a Bruins fan have a leg to stand on in saying that the refs were biased towards the Leafs? If that is them not getting calls what does it look like when they are getting calls?
Also I love Tavares but he needs to show some passion. I hate how Marchand crosschecks him and he just skates away. He needs to get pissed off and hit back. I'm sick of watching him take his lumps wit no reaction.

No it wasn't. Hall didn't chase him, grab his jersey to punch him and then drive his head into the ice. He still should get more then a fine though.Deebo said:The Hall punch was Bertuzzi-like.

The punch was from behind and to the side of the head, which was like Bertuzzi.
I didn't say the whole sequence was, just the punch, which it was.
L K said:The worst part of the Bertuzzi thing wasn't even the punch, it's that last frame. Bertuzzi drove the stunned Moore directly into the ice with his body weight. The Hall hit isn't remotely the Bertuzzi event but I do get the comparison with a sucker punch from behind.

disco said:Sucker punches are dangerous, he absolutely should have been suspended. By not suspending him you set a precedent that hitting a guy from behind and to the side of the head with your balled, gloved fist is okay to do. Very disappointing. It was absolutely like Bertuzzi, the difference being Bertuzzi fell on top of his body doing more damage, Moore being pretty much out cold and in a very vulnerable position.
